    CCheap strawberies in September?????

    It is my mother's 88th birthday today. I have made a chocolate and banana cake, and inspired by Lily, I got a bit creative on the icing side. I'm quite pleased by the result

    Happy - how old are those chicks? They are very cute!!

    Nicey - I reckon your FH and Mr B would get on like a house on fire :H But seriously ... stick up for yourself re this new place he has his eye on. One of the factors in my deciding not to sell was that we had been planning on fixing up Mr B's place in the country .... but when we looked at it two weeks ago I realised that it needed a lot more work than I had expected. I dont have the physical energy for that any more, and I also know from experience that it always takes more money than expected. The place that you are going to live in needs to be somewhere that you both want to be.

    Ronnie - how is the new carpet?? I've got the same thing happening here on the 17th - originally organised for getting the house ready for selling, but now we will be able to enjoy it ourselves!!

                Happs are those chickens sexed already? Or are you taking a chance with them? Apparently some people can sex chickens at two days old.

                  actually I'm not that keen on strawberries, but I dont want to hear anyone talking about raspberries or I will be seriously jealous :H:H

                  Saw the first lot of asparagus yesterday - $6 a bunch!! I dont think so :H Mind you I caved in and bought a (single) (beefsteak) tomato on the weekend ..... $3.20

                    Just been outside watching a superb sunrise .... in a T-shirt! How can you have a bad day after something like that?

                      I'm still getting straw, rasp, and blueberry's. I miss my august tomato's from back east. Short lived but the BEST!!!

                          Sexed Bridge. I know what you mean about the chicken folk...apparently I am dangerously close to becoming one...that or a cat lady I reckon... Missy re the tomatoes EVERY time we shop Mr Happs points out the price of tomatoes, we've got so many its beyond a joke, hence the pickles and the freezer full of them. Sunny can back me on that one.

                          Off to work, Lilly if I dont log on later it's good to see you feeling better day by day. It used to make me cranky when people said it takes time but I guess its the truth. :l

                              Oh Undies. My beautiful Mom will celebrate her 85th birthday on September 18th. She has NO idea I'm coming back home on the 8th. I'm taking her to Peter Luger's. I took her there for her 75th with dad. In New York there are many places to get a GREAT steak but Luger's is the best. It has a menu on-line w/o prices. They have a system of aging beef and pork that defies my culinary skill set. Simply, it is second to none. Mom will have the pork chops, and I'll sink my teeth into a 22oz New York Strip. I will send pics while back east.
