    Nighty-night Stirls :l

Our shanks were delish - literally fell off the bone.

I paid ZAR68 a kilo for the shanks, but some cuts (e.g. loin chops) can be up to ZAR130 a kilo at some shops. Whole lamb sells for about ZAR62.00 on "special". I buy one about two or three times a year, works out much cheaper that way.

By the way: my SIL is joking that we've done such a good job on Mum that she couldn't even convince her to have a glass of wine. Mum also became AF when she moved in. She used to have an "unwinder" in the early evening and then a glass of wine with dinner. Never a serious drinker.

Tips, you're mother is sounding great.

I spoke to her this afternoon after she saw my father again for the first time in about 4 months. She says she remained calm and was firm and clear in what she said to him. SIL says she thinks she's emotionally strong. Its good to hear - I was worried because of all the crying she'd been doing lately.

I must be off to bed as well -it's been a long day. I'll see you on the morrow, JC :l

          Nighty night, hun.

She's a changed woman by the sounds of it. Just shows it's never too late.

I'd better go and stick me head in the fridge. Mr JC's gnawing the table leg again.

Just out of curiosity ladies, how much does lamb cost where you live? It costs about 8 euro a kilo here, sometimes less if it's on sale, sometimes more around holiday times - Christmas and Easter. I usually buy goat as it much leaner and it costs 1 or 2 euro more a kilo. And how do you usually cook it?

:hallo: Foxy and Pinky. You twoz snuck in when I wasn't looking.
Stirls. Mr Satz came home on Saturday delighted he got a leg o lamb half price.
Feckin 21 euro it was marked and he nearly fainted when he realised THAT was the reduced price:H

I've a great butcher up here - full legalamb bout 20 and stewing lamb is half nothing. I love breast of lamb and it's dead cheap - just cook it for 95 hours. You literally can't buy lamb in Canada - it's a delicacy on the menu's the way we talk about lobster - well that's the way it was when we were over there.
Just had lamb steaks with mashed potatoes and runner beans--- feeling more human.
