    A little experiment/quiz

I had all except for the sensitivity to light.

I was a very sensitive child. Very shy, a loner... depressed and anxious. I worried all of the time about everyone... and was never happy. Nothing really excited me really.

The noise from the vaccuum cleaner would make me cry. Things jumping out in movies (suspense) would freak me out. Apparently my parents said I would cry at the drop of a hat.

I still have anxiety and nervousness. The vacuum cleaner noise (and simular noises) still puts me on edge.

      1. No
      2. No
      3. No
      4. No
      5. Yes (I had an unusual fear of dying from about the age of 9) I didn't realise it was unusual until I was an adult and I now recognise that it's a sign of anxiety coming back if I start thinking about the 'what if's' or of how I could get killed. ie car accident etc

PS Keep us posted on your conclusion. I am sure there is a genetic factor in there too.

Does this have anything to do with "Sensory Integration Dysfunction"?
Sometimes I wonder...."Why is that frisbee getting bigger?"...and then it hits me.

#5 for me always, still to this day a bit anxious and nervous, forever the worry wart compared to a lot of people.

Most definitely sounds like me on the noise issue. But I am still that way. I always hated balloons because it literally HURTS my ears when they pop and it takes several minutes to get over it. I have never allowed my kids to have balloons in the house, bring them in the car, or anything. I know... that's terrible. I love to watch fireworks but I do cover my ears. I hate buzzers, alarm clocks, anything that is startling. I've never even watched a scary movie because I can stand the "not knowing" what's going to happen and being scared.

And the depression... always battled with that even as a child. No to all the others.

Yes, I am noise senstive for sure. The first example that came to mind is that I bought a blow dryer that is super quiet and marketed as such. And then I had to LOL because I thought of the time Lush's blowdryer spontaneously combusted.

It is only funny to me because your house did not burn down and that is about the weirdest thing ever. Leave it to you!

I've suffered with anxiety and depression--especially anxiety from a very early age (apparently I had night terrors as a child). I don't recall being sensitive to loud noises as a child, but I am more sensitive to them now, especially if they are startling.

                          Hi Jenneh

Well firstly i have always been frightened by loud noises...V jumpy and scared of fireworks and thunder...not the lightning just the noise.

Secondly with regards to touch..yes i am very jumpy at any unexpected touch and i can not stand people being close behind me..really freaks me out

Thirdly...depression, i was certainly not a normal child..very low, inhibited etc

Lastly anxiety..most definitely..iv had panic attacks for as long as i remember...when i was v young my mum had to hold the paper bag over my face and help me to breathe

I've always related to Poes "the house of usher". has anyone felt the same ? I'd love to know what book you read.
