This is Determinator's wife - Determinatrix. I visited Husband in detox this evening and he seemed much more calm. Most of his tremors have stopped, as well as the heavy emotional depression. He wanted me to tell you all that he is happy to be there. He is receiving safe medical supervision and everyone seems nice. Tonight he will begin his education with AA and their Big Book, and he is somewhat skeptical but feels he is in no position to turn away any possibilities. I am so proud of him! He is so luckt because he has so many that love him. Thank you everyone.

This is Determinator's wife - Determinatrix. I visited Husband last night and his eyes were clearer, but his stats are still high. They want to put him on antabuse and campral. They feel topa is still too new and experimental. He hasn't decided whether he is going to choose abstinence or moderation. To be honest, moderation scares the hell out of me. It's like being on a diet and working at a chocolate factory. He has always referred to himself as having a "drinking problem", and never as an alcoholic. I asked how it was to say that word aloud for the first time at his first AA meeting, and he said it was strange and foreign and he was upset. I am thinking about going to an al-anon meeting...

Hi DX, I was just going to start a thread asking about him, and you of course. Whatever path he chooses I am sure this whole experience will have changed him in such a way that even if he does attempt moderation again he will know he has to be very cautious. It sounds like you need a lot of support as well so perhaps an al-anon meeting would be a good thing for you as well.
