    Army Thread Sunday 28th October

Sat you will have to ride this through, after a while they will stop asking you,my family are very big social drinkers and at the start of this journey I got huge pressure to go down to the pub just for the one, sure one won't kill ya they said.nowadays I am lucky to be asked out to anything at ll if alcohol is involved, the family have moved on and left me in there merry wake. Thankfully..its annoying sat but it will pass.

I hear you on that one Benji. Unfortunately we in Ire have been brought up to believe drinking is the norm for every social occasion from the cradle to the grave. Drinking at christenings, confirmations, weddings and funerals. Drinking cause we are sad, drinking cause we are happy, lets celebrate by getting hammered. No wonder there are so many problem drinkers in this country.
Unfortunately this is a fact of life and unlikely to change and by stopping drinking we make ourselves stand out. The thing I can never understand is how a vegetarian isnt hassled into eating meat, a none smoker is harangued into puffing away on a cigarette but for some strange reason some people see it as an an affront if we say we dont drink. When all is said and done they can all go screw themselves, in my book it is nobodys business but my own if I choose not to destroy my liver any longer.
Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Looking for a replacement to screen a neighbours house after he took down huge ugly llandii trees and this seems like a good option.
I thought some of the structures were brilliant, especially the igloo, no young kids in this house any longer though.

Tabbs you are so right about this country. :l

The idea of tonight sitting in a packed pub in the town - noise blaring from live band for hours on end is Mr Satz dream - my nightmare. Al dulled the pain of it for years.
But SOD 'em I will not be bullied.
Pinks - you are young so the pressure must be HUGE!:l

I am now getting subtle pressure from family.
"you Still not drinking" "why" - sister
"come on down pub - you never go anywhere & socialise" - Mr Satz

I feel constantly having to defend mysef , make excuses and make other plans so i don't have to go to these places that even bored me while I drank. In fact I think I drank to kill the boredom

                  Anyone else get this ?

The mother-in-law from hell eh ????

Funny - he was telling me he thought he was drinking too much & stopped too.
Girlfriend gave him a talking too - just like Mrs Pinky . Funny that - just thought of it.

I'd say maybe once the teens & 20's are over - when it's acceptable to be hammered - the 'real drinkers' float to the top eh?
                        And problems arise.
