    New Milky Image 84 Million Stars

    A new 9-billion-pixel image of the Milky Way galaxy has been created showing more than 84 million stars - ten times more than previous studies. The massive image is composed of thousands of separate pictures taken by the European Southern Observatory's VISTA infrared survey telescope, and if printed at typical book resolution, would measure 30 feet long and 23 feet tall. Despite its colossal size, the image covers only one percent of the sky. I find this amazing!

            Thanks for sharing that techie, that is amazing. I love looking at the stars at night, just wish I lived somewhere with less light pollution.
