Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire
Morning here, so I'll jump in with union info while you're sleeping.
I can't imagine how these young women must have felt when they couldn't get out. Corporate bastards! Same for child labor. Pics are awful, and always break my heart. I know it was/is the same everywhere, but thought I offer a bit of US history re unions.
"Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire
Date: March 25, 1911
Manhattan, New York City, U.S.
Injuries: 71
Death(s): 146
The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in New York City on March 25, 1911, was the deadliest industrial disaster in the history of the city of New York and resulted in the fourth highest loss of life from an industrial accident in U.S. history. The fire caused the deaths of 146 garment workers, who died from the fire, smoke inhalation, or falling to their deaths. Most of the victims were recent Jewish and Italian immigrant women aged sixteen to twenty-three;[1][2][3] the oldest victim was 48 Mark Herrison, the youngest was 11 year old Mary Goldstien.[4]
Because the managers had locked the doors to the stairwells and exits ? a common practice at the time to prevent pilferage and unauthorized breaks[5] ? many of the workers who could not escape the burning building jumped from the eighth, ninth, and tenth floors to the streets below. The fire led to legislation requiring improved factory safety standards and helped spur the growth of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union, which fought for better working conditions for sweatshop workers."

I'm sick, but okay otherwise. Thanks for asking.
Spending a lot of time in my hermitage (bedroom) due to illness--thus research and posting. Hermitage is becoming a prison as opposed to a sanctuary.
Btw, what did I check or uncheck that prevents me from replying with quote?"Remember, you are responsible for creating your life by every thought, action, choice. Choose well." Oprah Winfrey

Yes, I would say more Americans are against unions than for them, mostly due to money-grubbing corporations who have major influence on politics and the media, i.e. Fox News.
Yes, I'm a bleeding heart liberal. I've read too much history not to be.

Morning little tackers.
I'm off to let the physio work her magic on my knee today.
What adventures are we all having?
And it better be a whole lot more interesting than letting another girl play with your knee......If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

HAPPY FRIDAY MY PEEPS!!
Well, we are finally on the move!!! Packed until 2am this morning. I must say I'm more relaxed about things now that the process has actually started. A few rough days ahead but we're into it! The weekend won't be pretty!!! Gotta love legal eagles - the young fellow who bought the apartment has taken the advice of his lawyer and has demanded that the property be vacant on the morning of settlement day so we now have to move everything into storage for one day! Just crazy stuff!!! They don't want to risk the scenario of a squatter in residence....????? FH is livid and had intended to leave a dining room suite, wall tv in main bedroom, dryer and some other 'stuff' - that now won't happen me thinks. The guy came over last weekend and measured stuff up so he could get things he wants to do started, and we talked about the timing of the moves and he was fine with what FH suggested. When FH went to sign the final paperwork the lawyer told him the news. He went nuts... The lawyer wanted us to draw up a 'lease under contract' agreement which would have cost about $600 and pay rent until the apartment was absolutely empty! I said "what, for 4 hrs on settlement day whilst the removalists pack the truck??? - are you for fusking, seriously fusking real for fusk sake?????" They replied YEP, they want the property vacant on the morning of the 9th and it will settle between 12noon and 3pm!!! I told FH that I'd take them on but he is so over all of it....he says, my sale, my decisions.... I phoned them again just to let them know I think they are apathetic, money grabbing, bottom feeding grubs.... I didn't feel any better about it after the call though.... Anyway, it is as it is.
I kept checking our thread last night, just for company while I was packing but it was really, really quiet and not much response to my last post..... Soooooo, this morning once I reached the command desk I checked in again.....still not much happening! THEN, I realised it is NOVEMBER and I'm only TWO days behind!!!
Good to see you all again. Bridge hope your knee feels nice after your manipulation.
Tawny - I had a dream about you last night (Rags was a coupla nights back) and, you really are very tall aren't you???
Snuggle to little Leon.
Love and love to everyone else.
MWAH!!!It is not what we do, but how much love we put into the doing.

I'm pretty sure that you are not obliged to leave until settlement. Otherwise the reverse could apply really couldn't it? HE could squat. He can't have the keys until settlement, so what is the advantage of the place being empty?
I think someone is being a bit of an arsehole. If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?
