    UNDEROOS - Support Movember

Think they want it alive Aspy - I saw another couple of notices also advertising for crocs, and one specified that it had to be alive and healthy!! Dog knows what they would do with it??

I've been loving every second of my 10 hours so far in Kiribati There's free range chooks, free range pigs, free range kids, music and dancing in the town square to celebrate fisheries day, people singing in the back of trucks as they go home from work at the end of the day, little in the way of domestic violence, women in senior positions in government, and lots of very thoughtful people that I'm talking to. If this internet connection proves to be okay I'll stick some photos up.

Had a hilarious time getting through customs and immigration. Think of a customs and immigration regime that has no queues, not counters, no baggage trolleys and no baggage conveyor belt. It was bedlam!! I picked up my bag relatively early and managed to get through quite quickly - only to discover when I got to the car and went to get my umbrella out (it had started to hose down by that stage, in the sort of way that it does in the tropics) only to find that I had picked up a bag that was identical to mine, bu was not, in fact, mine. So I had to head on back in again and start all over again. The customs people just laughed at me - I'm not sure I would have had as friendly a reaction if the same things had happened to me in NZ!

Oh Missy - that sounds wonderful. Hope you can get some pics up soon.

Back from the vet - Wilson has a UTI, had two shots there and now follow-up meds at home. If not better by Saturday, take her back. And yes - she is too fat. ***harumph***

        Ha haaaa!
        That's why Wilson was stinky!

Missy that just sounds like heaven. Might have to give some thought to it as a potential destination.

Honestly, the horrible images just keep rolling in from the US. I just find it hard to fathom the amount of devastating natural disaster activity that country experiences. That poor poor lady in the clip.

          G'day Undies & fellow sundries

Just popped in to wish you a happy Movember, and to tell Techie that I'm sorry for the damage his family and friends have suffered, but especially for the loss of his mum's cats.

Missy, it sounds wonderful... a bit like us going through customs at Siem Reap.

Good that there's no domestic violence.
Pity the island won't be there in 40 years time.
When the PM of Kiribati gave his impassioned speech to the UN a couple of years ago, they couln't give a stuff about their plight.

OK I'm out of here and over to Wingello for a couple of days. Simon is coming with his back hoe to do in a few hours what would take me days.

That's true Rags, but there has been quite a big shift in various directions since then. Climate change scientists are mapping some re-generation of the reefs which is giving greater hope than had been thought a few years ago. And the Japanese are pouring in huge amounts of aid money to establish eco-farming and sustainability initiatives. I dont think they would be doing that if the outlook was entirely bleak. But the Kiribati government is in negotiations with several governments in the region (including the Australian one) about establishing Kiribati communities. If I was the PM of NZ I'd welcome them with open arms :-)

Right undies, on a limited internet budget here, so signing off for the night - have a good one all!!

                  Evening all,

Sounds like paradise where you are Missy! Love anything free range. No borders concept comes to mind. Yes, when we catch up down the treck, i'd love to talk union stuff. Finished pt. 1 of training today, with another 2 days end of the month. I'm loving it. There is just no need for a workplace to be an unfair and/or unpleasant place to be. Poor morale and conditions means poor performance. Happy workers, better performance. We've known this for centuries. Some employers are just ignorant, short sighted and......stupid.

I thought ALL youse sheila's had mo's. Well, yis have got balls, so stands to reason.

Got me handlebar style mo going here for Movember. Good call in yer intro Frog. Let's add depression to prostate cancer. Got a run up from oct 29th. Mo will be cookin in a week. Reg? Tip? KT? Aspy?

                  Regard's to Wilson Frog.

Thinking of you and all our friends in the States Techie. :l

Tram conductors are pretty gorgeous in my experience though.
I just asked where to get off (sic) at one point and I had two of them availing me of The Complete History of Melbourne including the low down on the Myki card in surround sound:H

Glad you enjoyed a ride on a Melbourne Tram they are great stuff ride one every day LOVE em!!!!

Alright...Mother Google is required here ...brb:H:H

I must have been lucky Wedgie, because I have never met so many helpful people in my life...in any country...and I've been to loads of em....and quite frankly I've never met so many people who feel strenuously loyal towards their city.
They sort of nurtured Melbourne and they were very invested.
                          I like that mentality....

However I've been through extensive industrial change a few times and it's pretty stressful. Especially if you don't like change.

... and when the prick got rid of the trammies, he also got rid of some really top entertainers who just made it a joy to be on their trams in the morning. These blokes made people smile. Fusked if a MYKI gizmo will even raise a vague grin
