Yes I have had the experience of almost taken out and shot and executed on certain threads. Now I tread very carefully. But I feel like I'm walking on eggshells. Never know if I'm going to offend the tomato lovers or the devil worshippers or whoever. You know what I mean?

If that's the question:H I'll be like a politician and answer it anyway! In my case, I pretty much drank 'normally' all my life -- but in truth 'normal' was always more than other normallers. I had 'a great let-down' - didn't get smashed when my mates were smashed sort of thing. But when drama came into my life a few years ago - I crossed the line with booze - and for me, there would never ever in a month of Sundays be any going back once that happened - but tbh - I think eventually even if the drama hadn't happened my 'normal' drinking would have caught up with me ---- just a bit slower. Now if that wasn't the question ---- what was it???:H
Sorry for confusing you there Molls! But you did well - and worked out the darned question from my near-incomprehensible question. And thank you for the reply. What eventually brought me here was the fear that the older i got, the more i'd drink because it was becoming the way to deal with everything... when does 1 bottle of wine become 3...? I didn't want to find out.

Ah Jaysus that's a long one. Bite size again - my mum got very ill about 6-7 yrs ago and my 2 sisters wanted to 'treat' her a certain way - one is a doctor and the other a nurse - and they were treating her like a 'patient' - and she was miserably unhappy. I stood up for her - and it ended up in feckin MAYHEM --- one of my sisters is barking anyway and the other one just wanted anything she could get out of my mum - money etc. and it was just a friggin nightmare. They even turned on my kids - and that was the rock they perished on, cos Joe got involved (MrInevergetinvolved) and after Mum died we lost contact ---- obviously there was a lot more to it --- but ya get the gist
Ah.,. Got it.... Very common... Sorry to hear that. Thanks for explaining. Very sad situation, indeed.

It's a rite of passage moderation/controlled drinking what ever you want to call it. Done it meself many times.

There may be cases when alcohol has been used to ease stress during a divorce or bereavement and has gone back to normal uses but once that line has been crossed into continual drinking it's nigh on impossible IMHO.

Continual's not the right word. Give us a minute while I try and think of the correct one.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

I actually fell to bits and into the bottle big stylie when my Dad died. When I look back now he was a sort of defence wall between me mother and me.

Ackshully that post made it sound like me mother used to come after me with a hammer. She didn't. She just had a way with words that landed in my direction most of the time.
