Drinking Made Me FAT
Yes the first time i quit for nearly 6 months i lost about 15 ibs. But after many slips and quits most went back on and now i fluciate lost a few gain back a few but never back to my heavist. This time its harder as my sweet tooth has taken over i need to watch my diet more and get more exercise. Because of darker longer days i'm not walking as much or don't have much to do in the garden. Think it gets harder anyway with age or does it? Anyway stiull working on stayin sober so hopefully it will start to drop off as the weeks go on. New swimming pool opening up soon close to where i live so that should be a help.

and I do think it's more than just the calories...up until very recently, I was still feeling symptoms of blood sugar fluctuation - pretty frequently...
in many cases, I think it's something that takes quite some time to get straightened out. So don't get discouraged if early on you aren't losing - there is lots of "stuff" that has to even out in our bodies.~

I had heard stories of everyone losing weight but the first 3 months I gained 2 pounds! Then after that I started steadily losing...I've lost 13 pounds overall and I'm not really watching it at all. B

Not sure if there is any truth to this...but I've heard that drinking increases your metabolism as your body tries to process it and flush it out. I find when I drink too much at night I wake up around 3 or 4 am and my heart rate is up and it's hard to fall back to sleep,,because of the metabolism racing. That being said, there is definitely a lot of extra calories coming in, so it's probably a moot point. I'm just starting out so i have no expertise in the matter, but I would imagine drinking over the long term would make a person gain weight, and I'm expecting it will take a while for the body for readjust after quitting, but losing will eventually happen,,at least thats what I'm telling myself..

I think it was a double whammy with me. Drinking all those calories was making me fat, but I also ate a lot and didn't care how much (because I could get drunk that night and it wouldn't matter, lol). Now that I have cut back I think I am about 15 lbs lighter, but I didn't weigh myself for the first 3 months after quitting..I am definitely 10 lbs lighter than I was in June. Steadily going down, I hope! With effort.

Yep....a 12 pack of beer every night and a frozen pizza will really pack on the pounds. Then throw in a greasy burger and fries the next day to combat the hangover...it's no wonder my hourglass figure turned into more of a basketball shape. LOL I did manage to lose it with MUCH exercise...but it took a while, the first 6 months of being sober that's all I cared about so I ate what I wanted. Give it time, things will even out!:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

Was just thinking about this today - used to blame alcohol on a lot of 'stuff' but now I know it can't be that as I am now AF for 4 months - (with a week breakout for a vacation )
My only addiction now is sugar-free mints.
WTF - they can't put on weight can they ? :H
