The Sugar Free Challenge - Who is in??

No Sugar, I think the point of the Biggest Loser is to show the audience what is possible and to motivate the public.

A show where contestants would lose a pound a week for 2 years would not yield the same drive in people to lose weight. And even though the end result may take longer to achieve it will be identical.

The point of the Biggest Loser is to draw in as big an audience as possible - as with any TV show.

The practices used in that show are not good. Some of the things they have obese people doing is ridiculous. It gives off the wrong image to the viewers. Again and again, I have to tell my clients that it is okay to losing 1lb of fat per week and that anything above that mark, realistically is going to come back on.

      Entertaining. Yes.

      Educational. No.

Londoner, does that mean that you are a personal trainer by trade?

Hey everyone! I'm so out of it-- It took me a long time to get what the biggest loser was-- When AllanK first brought it up, I thought, "Well how rude! Who's he talking about anyway?":H May have to look it up just for kicks--

Well it's a miracle that I made it through the day. And it did have very much to do with the fact that I knew I'd have to report here. For me, it's good to have this 30 day challenge and the roll call-- so thank you for being around..

Didn't make it to the gym-- had to work 8-18 and after that I just couldn't be bothered. So some stretching at home and then off to la la land.

The Sugar Free Challenge - Who is in??

I went out to a Russian Restaurant and had something sweet. I knew that the calorie intake is going to be high so I put in a long session at the gym so even after that meal I am still in the black calorie wise.

Will have to start on the 30 day challenge again.

I hope I am not the only one left posting on this thread.

After last nights outing I need to have a challenging session so I am going to the gym with an aim of losing 2000 calories in under 5 hours. Should be fun

                    I'm still here .
Did some biking yesterday and plan on some hiking + the Bradley Cooper :H workout today.
I'm visiting people who eat the same way I do, so that makes life nice.

Are you going to be at the gym for 5 hours??? Your commitment is amazing!

                      Hi Sugar,

glad I am not alone here. Where do you live if it is not a secret? I would love to do some hiking but I live in a concrete jungle so just long walks for me.

Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling and Paul Walker all have such amazing bodies that it is hard to choose. At the moment my sweet tooth is preventing me from shredding the last 10% of fat that I need in order to look like them. I don't want to spend 5 hours in the gym, but that is what it takes to lose 2000 calories. On Monday it took me 10 hours to lose 3000 but it involved less intense outdoor activities.

hey Bradley, Spanish(?), whatever your name is!!
How's it going today? Everywhere I have read, it's been said that a great bod IS exercise, but 85% of it is diet. Do you think that's true? Or is that just for the abs region? I've found diet is most important-- could be that this "truth" varies with different body types?

What would you say, NS? Happy hiking by the way, you lucky dog!

I have found that firstly, cutting out the AL and secondly the sweets (even after only a couple days) makes it much easier to arrive at smart decisions in all areas of my life-- but especially where food is concerned. I have more control over myself. I used to think that would make be predictable and boring.. but actually, it doesn't. I'm having much more fun with myself--:H

                        Hey Londoner and Free!!!!
See you all again in a bit-

Lifechange, I think you are absolutely right. Diet is the key to a good body.

I spend a lot of time at the gym and do sports outdoors yet I cannot hit my goals because of what I eat. Article after article says that 30 minutes of medium intensity cardio activity daily, with a good diet is all that you need to achieve a perfect shape.

I wish I had a training buddy to help me through the challenges that I have with training and dieting.

Allan, have you thought about posting in an exercise forum here on MWO? I'm sure there's gotta be one or two hopefully active ones. If not, I'd be happy to join one with you and we could check in on our progress, keep eachother motivated, share links, etc.

I have a slightly oddball, non-mainstream way of looking at health and exercise that works well for me and has for many others, though much of it is contrary to conventional fitness wisdom.

I'd be interested in hearing about it too, Skull--I like unconventional ways.
Is there a specific thread you've started?
