The Sugar Free Challenge - Who is in??

Yeah - you can do it on the gas cooker. I use the slow cooker though.

Try and get a mixture of red and yellow marrow bones in there. I use a variety of bones and throw a couple of good chicken carcusses in too. Lamb/beef/chicken are what I use. I find the chicken is essential to make a nice gelatinous broth. Gelatin is great for healing the digestive tract. Also, try to get cartilage in there too - the collagen is great for your skin, hair and nails.

Leave the bones to soak in water with 2 tbsps of vinegar for an hour or so.

Then I chop up some celery, onions, garlic and carrots and throw it in and leave it to cook slowly for 12-25 hours.

Try and go grass fed/organic where possible.

      Thanks NS and Londoner!!!
Here in Malaysia, chickens are always sold with heads, necks and feet attached..I always ask them to lop them off.... they look so gross but from that tutorial, a coupla feet and the odd head wouldn't go amiss..??

Great, I'm off to get a slow cooker and a few bones from the market tomorrow !!!

Yeah keep the feet for sure. They contain good gelatin!

I can't find them near where I live. The more of the animal the better really.

You look back at past cultures and muscle meat was the forgotten part. Bones, organs etc were the nutritious and sought after bits of the animal.

Yeah but what about the head.... those eyes, man. Yuk, and the beak? Really?

Hmmm, personally I'd have the head off.

Are you putting the whole chicken in, or just the bones?

Right, my L-Tyrosine and L-Glutamine have turned up.

I'm gonna start on the L-Tyrosine for my dopamine levels.

And then try the L-Glutamine later on before bed.

My insides feel pickled from the amount of food and sugar I have eaten over the last 8 days. I have definitely stressed my GI tract and I am sure a fast wouldn't go amiss.

                Hi folks
Just reading through this thread and wondered how much L Glutamine to take for sugar cravings?
                I have the powdered kind.

I'm going to start with 1g before dinner.

Then 1g tomorrow before lunch and then another 1g before dinner.

Making sure I do not take it with L-tyrosine (which I will take in the morning)

                    Hi, R4L

I found that ~ 1/4 tsp under the tongue worked well. Repeat if needed.

The Sugar Free Challenge - Who is in??

Hi all you Sugar Free Fighters!!
Great to see so much action here-- I love it.
I have definitely noticed a difference the past 2 days with the Lglut! I'd been swallowing capsules for a while, but never noticed much of a difference-- now I've been eating the powder straight (about 1/4 tea. as you said, NS), mostly in the evenings when I tend to crave, and then the craving is gone. Just like that, I forget about it. Wish I would have tried it this way the first few AF weeks!! Damn!

I have to say I'm on a different Nutrition plan than most here-- as my body and mind seem to work best with a mostly vegan diet. Although that bone broth is sounding pretty tasty, so I think I'll try it this weekend! I eat non gluten grains early on in the day, a lot of vegetables, nuts, beans, smoothies with hemp powder, berries and almond milk, coconut oil, milk and water-- Patrice, you're so lucky to be living in the tropics!! Mmmm. I will have to watch that video..
I go back and forth with animal products. Sometimes I'm influenced by my dad and his protein concerns, but I've read so much that contradicts how I was raised. And I feel better and am more excited about food and cooking when it's centered around other food groups. And if I feel like eating meat, I eat it-

Anyway, I LOVE food and I love the challenge of eating sugar free.
I think I've mentioned once or twice that my 12 year old daughter is also having sugar free days. She has similar problems to us-- my younger daughter doesn't !!-- and has been inspired by the challenge. I'm happy to say that when she sets her mind to something, she does it! I'm learning from her, too.

                      xoxo

Life - agree on the l-glut.

Just had my first try of it and sugar cravings GONE.

The Sugar Free Challenge - Who is in??

Thought I would post an early morning update.

I am armed and ready to go SF.

I was up at 5am for work, for the first time in weeks. A struggle but my routine will return.

                            I've got my L-glut and l-tyrosine.

Been shopping - plenty of vegetables, meat and fish.

Today is detox day - lots of nutrients down me.

                            No sugar.

Tomorrow I will climb back into my exercise routine.

And as a result hopefully my chemical balance in the brain will return to normal and my motivation for life, work and people will return.

What's your plan to stay SF today?

Oh... and I had a passionfruit.. apart from that all good ! Not purist though, but still only at 4 af days so I can't whip myself too much... for me to stay AF is the King at the moment

I am preparing for an interview tomorrow morning and have to revisit a lot of stuff that I have not done in a long while. Feels like my CPU is working at full capacity and my brain is overheating (literally).

Does anyone else find it difficult to learn new stuff or revise very old.

It seemed like I could learn a hole book in a night back at University.

Getting older or out of practice
