Would any of those do it?
Do you eat coconut oil NS?
Does your body burn it up like you say ?

    Almond butter is yum !!!

Yes I do but it definitely is an acquired taste - much better to cook with it, I must admit. It is composed primarily of medium chain saturated fatty acids which are metabolized differently than longer fatty acids. It will be oxidized, not stored, and it has numerous other physiological benefits. It is pretty much my go-to oil, inside and out.

Great ideas! Thanks.. I ended up going to bed hungry and was up at 3am. Nut butter and coconut oil didn't even cross my mind.
Does coconut oil metabolize the same way whether it's cooked or not? If I were to cook some broccoli with a TB or two for instance? I always keep it in the fridge so it's solid-- I could just eat it plain? I usually just use it for my "sweets", which it works wonders for.

          Hi, Life

It is a great oil for cooking - because it is saturated (like lard or butter), it is stable to heat and does not oxidize like the polyunsaturated oils that should not be used at high heat. The flavor of the kind I use is mild so things don't taste overly coconutty. Roasted vegetables are amazingly good when you use it - especially sweet potatoes.

You can also do MCT oil, which has no taste at all but will give you the satiating healthy calories. It's a mix of palm oil and coconut oil, and stands for Medium Chain Triglycerides Oil. You can also cook with it, though best to keep temperatures under 350.

As for nighttime hunger, I make sure to take a melatonin so that my urge to sleep quickly takes over any other urges...

Did you know that a product that essentially is MCT oil is sold as a Rx for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimers, MS, Parkinson's, etc. ? Sure is a lot cheaper to buy MCT oil or coconut oil and just take that!

(try to get past the alarmist title :H).
The thing I like about this blogger is that he includes his references so you can read and evaluate them yourself. So many "experts" don't do that.

Thanks a lot, NS! Way to go and ruin my day!!!:H
Thank God I don't eat most of those things (at least the past 10 days!!) but I will have a touch of honey in moderation-- which he said is ok if one is healthy.
I haven't found it triggering other sugar cravings--possibly because I do use it very sparingly. Maple syrup wasn't mentioned..? What a drag about molasses. What about black strap molasses? I'll have to look that up-- I was always told it was good for iron deficiencies!!

                        How is everyone doing today?

If you fancy buying healthy I definitely recommend going to Whole Foods. I have never seen the vegetables so colourful. Just wish it wasn't so expensive there.

I'm feeling crappy today. Grrrr. Grouchy. Crabby. The sugar I let myself have on Thanksgiving is really fighting as it leaves my system. 4 days later and I'm still feeling the withdrawals. Well, from both sugar and nicotine.

It's not terrible, I'll get past it and it'll be fine. But yeah, today I'm definitley feeling the withdrawals. This is why cheat days, planned or not, TOTALLY SUCK.

Some people here call Whole Foods Whole Paycheck :H. It is an expensive grocery store with very nice products - the produce is especially attractive.

Sorry you're still hurting, SBL! Just a couple more days...
