I'm getting ready to join you soon.. have been trying to back off slowly.
My goal was to start on day 7AF.. which is tomorrow! Let's see.. I have the Lglut in place and all the healthy food I need.
You're inspiring me with your energy, Satz!
Don't try to fo too much together Elsie. You will just depress yourself. I think, welall (well maybe just me ) need something to look forward to at the end of a day when we get to relax. For a while after the alcohol has been removed we may want to have something because it can be a grieving process for our little friend who comforted us.
Allow yourself some treat - a few squares of dark chocolate ? But be 'good' for the other 85% of the time.

    Check in here though

You're totally right, Satz.. I don't want to overwhelm myself.. may have been guilty of that once or twice in the past!ha..
But today I am beginning my version of SF.. which means trying to eat a lot less. and cutting the simple carbs, most bread, flour products.. I'm taking a bit of L-glut and eating fruits and veggies and some dried fruits.. I've got a short term goal of 3 weeks when I've got to go in for surgery.. so I'd like to be as ready as possible, feeling strong. I also have a bit of 85% chocolate..
As long as it's feeling easy I'm gonna run with it!

I've heard of having headaches, but itchy skin? Hopefully NS will come by shortly with some insight!
How's the rest of your diet? Are you eating enough fresh veg? I've been terrible with that lately.. but I have a grapefruit sitting here waiting for me to eat it!

I've had to go on a soft food diet for my implant. I've had banana's, grapes , Yoghurt (just ate a 1kg tub in a day) with blueberries or strawberries. If I do have icecream ,it is plain with strawberries or banana. Plenty of Eggs etc. Had pasta and tuna too. Pumpkin soup . Been feeling great. Panadiene forte ibuprofen has knocked those withdrawal headaches out of the water. Still got a 5 day course of it lol

Day 2 here. I had some Lglut last night when I wanted to cookies and it seemed to work. I didn't really think about it anymore..?
Satz, how's it going with the itchiness?

Re: The Sugar Free Challenge - Who is in??

I also found that L-glutamine worked for sugar, LC, similarly to how it works for alcohol. Our brains need energy -- so it sends out that craving signal and a bit of L-glut can turn that off. I know now that's why I hated to eat before I drank. It was satisfying that craving with alcohol that was so *^#!* rewarding.

Hope the itchiness is gone, Satz. That is something I've struggled with my entire life and unfortunately, have never found the cause or cure and just try to treat the symptom.

What's your sugar-free goal, Neo? I hope you're meeting it and can get off the various drugs soon.

Looks like you're probably coming up on 2 weeks, Lex. Feeling good?

I'm doing ok with sugar but have started helping myself to my husband's blue corn chips. That doesn't sound like a serious crime but the effect on my blood sugar is the same as candy . The best way for me to change my behavior is to read or listen to information that steers me in the right direction. So today's therapy was reading some of the recent research linking blood sugar to dementia, summarized here. That is one of my greatest fears so anything I can do that reduces risk is pretty motivating.

:applause: Neo . Whatever it takes first to stay off the booze. Once you have AF time under your belt you can start looking at sugars in food.

Well obvious ones are the bloating & that feeling that I am carrying a bag of potatoes around on me, they have gone, I feel more fit, more happy with myself,I have more energy, I don't miss any of the normal sweet things that I indulged in, like ice cream coke cola chocolate, I have gotten flashes of just have the one biscuit or one piece of cake & on numerous occasions people pushing them on me, But my defence is I imagine all of them above as an alcohol, and so far so good.

Whatever works, Mario! I used to get acid reflux when I ate too much cake, cookies, etc. I know now that that was primarily due to the gluten but I still get kind of a "refluxy feeling" when I look at those kinds of foods, which makes it easier not to want them.

                            I forgot about the Lglut..?
                            Back on it today.
Thanks NS for the reminder that Lglut also helps with alcohol cravings.. I know I used to take it a lot more.. have to get in the habit again.

                            How's the itchiness, Satz?
