Re: The Sugar Free Challenge - Who is in??

Hi NS, Both the egg and milk industries involve much cruelty and killing. We just don't hear much about it.
Here's why for eggs:
21 Things the Egg Industry Doesn't Want You to See | PETA
Here's why for milk:
18 Images Big Dairy Doesn't Want You to See (but PETA Will Show You) | PETA
Not sure about the wool industry. I don't wear wool so I've never looked into it.

Thanks for the recipe! Sounds delicious.

Thanks for the links, @Ginger999. Those are horrifying images. I'm fortunate to be in a position to avoid factory-farmed meat, dairy, and eggs but that of course doesn't make a dent in the overall global problem.

An overall report about how the current worldwide food consumption pattern isn't sustainable was just released: The EAT-Lancet Commission on Food, Planet, Health - EAT
It definitely supports your choices regarding meat and for all of us here, reductions in sugar and processed food intakes.

Hope any SFers are doing well and feeling great!

Thanks for the recipes. It makes me think that I have to be more proactive in finding alternatives to wheat and sugar. I tend to just try the same meals without the carbs which sometimes can be uninteresting. I haven't tried GF flour because I am trying to get rid of the calories of wheat as well as the gluten, but those pancakes seem reasonable.

Still chugging along with no sugar and no wheat. I had some white rice last night (my comfort food) with my chicken and broccoli. Delicious. I am also eating some soups I had frozen. I am now out so I have to cook this weekend - good thing I have an extra day.

Scary article NS Pav,almond or coconut flour are my go to's when I'm eating "good" the coconut does have a flavor to it but the almond is more subtle

Here's something I made last night,I cook them in a donut pan to make it fun
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
1 egg
1 scoop of protein powder(I used Quest cookies and cream)
1/2 cup of coconut flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup of almond butter but I skipped this step cuz I just wanted the cookies and cream flavor,if I'd have used chocolate protein powder I'd have tossed this in,just cook it at 350 til it's spongy when you touch it Its not too sweet but like NS says when you aren't eating sweet things, semi sweet things seem to hit the spot!

One day at a time.. Sometimes it's one minute or one second at a time.. Most important thing is to look ahead and don't look back!

I will have to try that recipe paulywogg. I wonder if sour cream would work instead of yogurt....
Way to go Ginger999. You must be feeling pretty darn good.
Welcome Moffit and @ Change. Making positive lifestyle changes is the best gift you can give yourselves. I gave up alcohol a few years ago and cut out sugar and crappy carbs last May. I have never felt better physically or mentally. I hope you both get to experience the same results.

Hi, Moffit and Change. It is great to see you here ready to improve your health and lives as much as possible. Change, if you're determined to kick both addictions at once, I hope you'll always choose to eat before drinking if it comes to that.

The woman who started this thread has a tremendously inspiring thread about her personal experience. This is a link to the post where she shows before and after becoming AF and eating a low carb diet photos. The whole thread is worth reading - I made my way through it during my 'not drinking' hours in the early days. Her success gave me so much hope!

I'm 8 days (Keto)NS/AF and have to say I feel really good. I had to pick up some meds today and while I was waiting, wandered over to the Atkins goodies. Looked at them for a while and decided it was probably best to leave them on the shelf.

Keep smilin' :happy2:

Moffit I think you are right - cold turkey seems to be the only way.
I have not been successful at all in my NS quest.

I get those 'f*ck it' moments and it ends with me eating tons of sweet stuff.
It's more difficult for me than alcohol because it doesn't cause problems & it's EVERYWHERE.
