I also emailed RJ about it. Don't know the details, but I believe there should be a more thorough check on people registering. I mean after all we're all here because we deal with a serious issue in our lives and the last thing we need is some wacko messing with us.
Anyway, don't let it/him/her get you down. You still have us.
hugsPaddy

I've been involved from the start, and just can't believe that we are dealing with this... I purposely went away from some other AA sights because members were mis-representing themselves and I didn't want to deal with it...
Just makes me sad because I LOVE so many members here....Sobriety Date: June 15, 2007 -- "It's not having what you want, It's wanting what you've got...."

BTW - please don't judge chat by some of the posts you see here. The people I talk to in chat are as close to me as my family.. I cannot describe it... Do not be scared of chat.....

We cannot let ONE person bring us down. It will be fine. I, along with others, have made it clear to he/she that they are not bringing the "right stuff" onto the boards and I am hopeful they will not be back.
I think the best thing to do is just move on and not focus on this.....there are way too many cool people around here. LIke me!!! Oh alright, tomorrow is another day!!! XOXOXI'm really easy to get along with once people learn to worship me

Yes, I agree Lushy. One person cannot ruin it for everyone else. Chat is, on almost every day, a haven for those who wish support. For the one person who made it hard this week - actually for a brief period of one part of one day - there are tens of dozens of others who can tell stories about how warmly they were welcomed on chat and how much chat means to them in terms of support. So, I really do hope that anyone reading this thread will not be warned off a foray into chat. You will be warmly welcomed. I happen to know that the earlier posts were just a way of letting others know that there was a possible malperson around - and that, for sure - is a RARE happening on this site. The issue is being settled, I would think, and members should not feel uncomfortable going into chat - it is really an incredibly supportive place and if you need support, it is a great place to be.
I guess I would like to thank all the frequent fliers on chat who have helped me so much over the last year. You are all so wonderful and, as AA said, you are like family. You know who you are!! There is always someone I can talk to and I know that we all try to be there for each other. That is what it has always been about. You all helped me a lot in the past days. Today was a happy chat day. So, glad that things are getting back to normal! Arrgh. Time for bed - this daylight savings is kicking my butt.
Hugs,
Pansy

Maybe you (or RJ?) should "name and shame" this person if they are a genuine menace? That way all genuine member of the MWO community can avoid known troublemakers in the future?
(I think however I may know, after our creepy encounter last week... Remember, Rags?!)

Is there a way to "ignore" someone on chat? I've seen this features on other chats. I used to get in the chat room on the Weight Watchers website - I remember this troll that turned out to be someone's kid who kept calling everyone "fat". They finally shut down the chat room because of abuse.
I hate to see some sadistic a$$ take something that has meant so much to so many and trash it. Unfortunately, there are plenty of them out there. And, it's so easy to change re-register under another name.
Hang in there - I don't get to chat much, but I always feel good when I leave.
