    Slow Dance

This poem was written by a terminally ill young girl in a New York Hospital.

    SLOW DANCE

    Have you ever watched kids
    On a merry-go-round?
    Or listened to the rain
    Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

    You better slow down.
    Don't dance so fast.
    Time is short.
    The music won't last.

Do you run through each day?
    On the fly?
When you ask How are you?
    Do you hear the reply?

    When the day is done!
Do you lie in your bed
    With the next hundred chores
    Running through your head?

    You'd better slow down
    Don't dance so fast.
    Time is short.
    The music won't last.

    Ever told your child,
    We'll do it tomorrow?
    And in your haste,
    Not see his sorrow?

    Ever lost touch,
    Let a good friendship die
    Cause you never had time
    To call and say,"Hi"

    You'd better slow down.
    Don't dance so fast.
    Time is short.
    The music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
    Thrown away.

    Life is not a race.
    Do take it slower
    Hear the music
    Before the song is over.

    That's beautiful...

I heard a quote at the end of a TV series last night..."We all have the same ending, it's how we get there that counts".

        Beautiful poem....

and Cashy you're right. Its how we finish the race, not how many times we fell down along the way.

My knees are often skinned, but they will one day be my points of greatest strength. My brother who is a doctor once said something I never fogot. He had no idea the parallel it meant for me. He said, "scar tissue is much stronger than normal tissue. It does not tear easily, but rather the tissue around it will give way first."

So actually our points of greatest weakness and failure -- these scars; if given the opportunity, can become our greatest strengths. They can be our points of strength, and the proof others will ask to see that we too have fought this battle. Scars can be beautiful when turned to a thing of reminding you of who you WERE. They open doors to help others who would otherwise never listen. They are proof that we too have been in their shoes. Scar tissue is strong tissue, but scars serve as memories. We have scars physically, but we have them emotionally as well that no one can see. I know God's desire for me and all of us is to look to him for the things we dont understand. He always anwers, just not right then usually or in the way we would have chosen. But its so exhilerating when he does show you! The coolest thing is when God touches a scar and brings healing. Not to the physical scar, but to a scar in your heart.

          Finding Peace
Hi, thanks for posting that beautiful poem, here's one that I wrote, not as good, but I think it's expressing a similar feeling.

          Peace

          Peace has hidden itself
          Only love can find it
          But where did love go?
Did we put it behind us
In the rush to get further
Did we leave it behind us?
          Can we all turn around
Pick it up where we left it
Put it back in it's place
          And never forget it?
          And then like a lantern
          We could carry it around
          Then next thing we'd know
          Peace would be found.

Hope you like it, love Jasmin
          :thanks: :h
