Ally 800 cals is a bit low, according to my plan 1200 should give a steady weight loss. When you think it takes an extra 3000 cals to put on one pound, thats on top of 2000 cals for the average woman, we should be able to eat a reasonable amount without gaining.

Ok, phew, I had gained 2 over the weekend, but back down again. STRESS! lol...I didn't make it to the gym last night, was too bagged.....was in bed at 8:30! I have a day off today so I will do a little shopping for a baby shower.....then some stuff around the house. I WILL get to the gym tonight!!!!
The Lean Cuisines are very quick and easy, but you have to watch the salt. That will only promote water retention....come to think of it Ally, maybe that's why you aren't losing?
Welcome Quest! WW is great! I've lost a ton of weight that way. I should be doing it again this time, but didn't want to spend the $$$

Someone mentioned that exercise only burns 250 to 300 calories so it's maybe not worth the effort. It is SO worth the effort because it fires up your metabolism so that you burn more calories while resting. Also, if a woman eats less than 1200 calories a day, the body goes into starvation mode (think hunter/gatherer days) and holds onto fat. If you only eat 800 calories, the body will burn muscle...not fat. You sure don't want to do that.sigpic

Frequent traveler: is it for your job that you travel so much? I love Taiwanese food too. Taipei is awesome except for some bathrooms!
Questy: welcome and good to see you here! Want me to put you on the board by giving me a number to lose? Hear Weight watchers is good but I have commitment issues all my life....
Paula: I am short and old and inactive and that's why Lose It calculates 800 calories as the number for me to lose 2 pounds a week. My problem is inactivity and laziness. I know that... 1/2 of that battle won, right? Lol! I'm still a loser, just not a weight loser.... Sigh...
Phin: you've got a great point. I'm addicted to salt. I don't like sweets but I can lick salt all day.
Faithful: yup. Metabolism is the key. We need to burn those calories.
Yay to new day and phin!Alcoholic (or Ally)

Good day all!
I am so busy at work, just read quickly, and won't be able to look back at old posts for a while, but really want to encourage limiting frozen entrees! I do enjoy some here and there. I did many days of smart ones and lean cuisines while I was drinking to no avail. They don't satisfy! TRY TRY TRY to get more fresh foods in!
I guess I'm lucky because we have a refrigerator and microwave toaster oven at work, and I take the time to bring everything to work and make a salad, or whatever. I also make food ahead of time. Not always good at doing this, but when I do, I really notice a difference! Try grilling a lb of chicken rubbed with Meat Tenderizer... YUMMY on salad! Big Breakfast, light lunch, big dinner works for me. Everyone is different tho! Just my thoughts. Let's Go MWO Biggest Losers! (just did The Biggest Loser" workout last night. 2nd night in a row after months of not working out. Quads hurt today!I will be sober so I can be clear and remember being a mommy and so I can be in the best place God wants to place me. I will be here! now! FREE! 12.5mg Topamax AM&PM, Ativan until safe from withdrawal syndrome & for anxiety. Thank God I Am Done!

Oh - and Ally - that isn't enough calories. Eat more, exercise more. Don't deprive. That leads to wanting to drink and eat. Please consider this!I will be sober so I can be clear and remember being a mommy and so I can be in the best place God wants to place me. I will be here! now! Rainy day:
believe me, I eat way more than 800 calories a day! I think I eat about 1300-1500 a day. I figure I probably burn some calories walking to my car, going to the bathroom, going to the microwave, showering, getting dressed... Right? Breathing and sitting themselves burn calories! Plus I'm wearing 1 lb weights around my wrists! So I just hope Lose It is wrong.
But my weight loss is definitely plateaued at 137 lb. my goal is 120 which was my weight in college. I'm only 5'3". I do need to get more active. Maybe I need some cocaine. Just kidding!!!!!Alcoholic (or Ally)

Back into exercise. Two nights in a row did videos with my neighbor friend who has kids my kids age. Got the kids doing them too. Today, my coworker and I took 1/2 hour and did yoga. I want to love my body again. It feels great. Those of you who aren't exercising, give it a shot! Remember, exercising DOES bring euphoria if it isn't taken to extreme. Burning muscles WILL feel great! And make yourself proud! This leads to less desire to pick up a drink unless it's water or gatorade or Grape Juice!
During Yoga, we concentrated on breathing and parts of our bodies. We "felt" every part of our feet touching the floor. Stretched our arms up high to the sky and spread our fingers so all we could "feel was our fingers stretching, our feet tingling, and our breathing. Did a relaxing breathing ending and I feel great!
You DO have time! Even if you have kids, get them involved!I will be sober so I can be clear and remember being a mommy and so I can be in the best place God wants to place me. I will be here! now! Ok, I did it!!! I didn't think I was going to get to the gym, but I made it!!!! Did a nice leg workout, did some cardio and now I'm good. It pays having a daughter with a boyfriend with a vehicle!! And they workout at the same gym as I do so that helps as well!
I just can't wait until I'm under 200lbs!!!!! I may buy myself something!!!!

Weight Losers
Hi friends.
I am on day 8 of yet another stab at sobriety. I am doing very well this time. I am actually enjoying it.
However, I, too, would like to lose some weight. I saw a diet on T.V. this morning called The Eight Hour Diet. It sounds too good to be true and probably is but I have decided "what the heck?" It's free, it's easy and it lets me eat what I like.
The authors also suggest an eight minute work out in the mornings as a way to increase fat loss and, of course, muscle gain. Both are very helpful to a diet.
So, I am hoping I can jump onto this thread and give and have some support.
As a background, I had gastric bypass surgery in 2005. I lost from 290 lbs to 149 lbs (at my lowest.)
I now weigh 169 lbs. That is a 20 lb weight gain in eight years. I do not like the trend.
Anyhow, let me know if it is okay to jump in. I understand if I seem like an intruder since I am so late in the game.
Thanks!

your no intruder Cindi! The more support the better! Im only going to weigh myself once ever two weeks , I dont want to get down over slow progress cos ive given up booze before and weight loss has been slow and it could be dangerous if I get pissed off with lack of progress!
8 Days is a good start, im 16 today and determined to not poison myself in 2013 at all!
Ally, you havent to much to loose really, 137 lbs is not overweight at your height is it?
