Hi Friends, I just read a great E book called Eat for Heat. Read the Amazon reviews, they are very interesting. The author Matt Stone has a lot the info free on his blog, but it makes more sense in the book. He's not selling supplements, he has just spent a lot of time reading/researching healthy eating. I started a thread under holistic healing if you should want to discuss what you read there. My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

It off a slice of fruitcake last night to have with tea as a treat (I'm the only one in the house that likes it, so each Christmas season I buy myself a little chunk), then sampled one of the pecan tarts I was making last night....and had a couple of spoonfuls of the filling that was left over......and gained 1/2 pound! Gotta watch that.

Sunbeam: I checked out your thread. Interesting theory! For me though, carbs always drop my blood sugar 2 hours after I eat then I get all shaky and dizzy. At work, I can't be like that... so that diet probably isn't for me....my sister eats a bunch of carbs and is slim, she exercises regularly though.Alcoholic (or Ally)

Omg, I thought you lost 27 lbs already since Dec. 3, Ally! Lol, I am trying to lose as well and doing IF, intermittent fasting. Every other day I try to keep my calories at or under 500. On alternate days I eat at maintenance levels. No restrictions, unless you want to eat a certain way. I have been doing this for almost 4 weeks, and have lost 5 lbs. Not a lot, but it really doesn't feel like a diet because I'm able to eat what I want eod. The benefits are more than just weight loss, and I'm looking forward to all of it.
Good job on starting this thread, and good luck to all of you! I know it's been a huge distraction for me (dieting) and does take a lot of focus off AL.

Hi Ladies,
I know this isn't the meds forum but I've been on topimax and its been really helpful for weightloss. Along with my own personal issues (which I'm sure you'd rather not have!) I'm 5'2 and have gone from 130 to 113 in about 3 months. Topimax does help. Zaps the appetite to nothing. Don't need to count me in the thread but I did want to include that tip because Roberta recommends it in her book and I've been using it to help me in my situation. I was actually skeptical of the weightloss but it did kick in after a month or so.

I googled it, Raven, and depression does seem to be a common side effect of Topa. I suggest talking to your doctor about it. Or talk to people here on the forum. I can't offer much, because I have no experience with it. I would talk to others here before I took a script for depression, because it seems like most docs are too quick to do that. I hope you feel better.
