Antabuse tips/suggestions/side effects?

:new:Hi. I am on day 2 of AF with the help of a prescription to Antabuse. My addiction is more mental/emotional than it is physical. But the same old story of progression through the years, nightly black outs now, etc.

I would like to talk with people who are going through the same things and be able to communicate when I feel victorious and also when I need a lift up.

Is there anyone who is taking AB currently? How are you doing?

I have been on AB for a very long time. I owe my sobriety to it. Like you, my battle was more mental than physical, which is why AB is perfect for me...I take the pill and I simply cannot drink.

Thanks K9. How long is a "very long time." I was thinking like 60 days maybe, and after creating new healthier habits being able to stop taking AB. Maybe not. Today I thought twice about it but hurried up and popped that pill before my mind did any more damage to my moral.

A "very long time" is about 2 years, on and off. I have been on it all of 2012...so almost one year solid. I have no plans to quit taking it either. I have no side effects at all, the ONLY thing it does is prevent me from drinking. Take it in the morning when your willpower is the strongest...that's what I do!

Antabuse tips/suggestions/side effects?

How is it with vinegar foods and cleaning products? I'm really scared of effects from foods like when I eat out or attend a BBQ at someone's house, etc. Also, I clean houses and most cleaning agents have alcohol in them.
