            Geez when I went to my first de-tox I was crapping meself. First woman I met was a lady who had only eaten mashed potatoes for a year. We got on really well.

                Quick query as Zen prepares for Activities Week(s). Anyone from the Army just stopped drinking with only the help, care and advice of MWO? Or has everyone done various forms of meds/re-hab?

                    I honestly don't now. Lavande springs to mind.

                    MWO was my last chance saloon, so to speak. I've done AA, on me own, one me own with campral and counselling, many de-toxes some at home some as a day patient.

                    Must go and have a bacon sarnie, but before I go you're bringing up some fantastic subjects, RC.

                      I did it on willpower. But it was damn hard. And I honestly haven't sorted it in my head..the idea if long term sobriety. But I'm working on it
                      I have a drink problem, I have been AF since 15 March 2011 and I am working hard to stay that way

                        Thanks JC - just would be interesting to know. I think what is also interesting is how things have worked for peeps over a longer period. Obviously I'm pretty new to the life of abstinence, but others have been playing for years and have attempted many methods... suppose i wonder why some work for some and others work for others.

                            Rabsy...I stopped without any meds,any help or treatment other than here...Decided that enough was enough...been pissed the day before on vodka and super strength lager..and I thought..had enough..tried numerous times to stop...I remember thinking to myself..you had 3 strokes ..and nearly died...good people put time effort and skill in bringing you back,...so what the fuck are you doing wasting their time?I posted and got replies including pms from 3 special ladies, who actually gave me the courage to carry on.I take no meds for al, dont attend classes or meetings..but just use this site
                            af since the fourth of July 2012...howzat then America..now proudly marching into year 12
