While I'm on about hospitals and stuff, today is the anniversary of my father's death. He was taken to hospital in Redditch a week before Christmas and diagnosed with a chest infection. When it was pointed out that there was clearly something wrong with what was going on in his head, he was given aspirin. The next morning he had his crisis and was later transferred to intensive care in another hospital. It was already too late and he died a few days later of bacterial meningitis. I always felt that he had been badly let down. This morning of all days, I woke up to read this:

Reccy -- :l That's awful - and to find that in the news on the anniversary too. I am thinking of you today too.

As with perhaps all drugs - they can be used to benefit, and used abusively methinks?

We use painkillers after surgeries that are similarly used by those trying to wean themselves of heroin addiction.

Sorry, maybe I shouldn't have posted that last post. I know there are many many dedicated and hard-working folks in the NHS and I'm absolutely certain that whizzy was one of them. Was just letting off a bit of steam cos I'm feeling a bit emotionally fragile today. But thanks for the kind words.

                          Where are you zen?

Bugger! Been reading back. How on earth did Hamish get FHV? That is a totally preventable disease (cats should be routinely vaccinated). I hope that breeding breeder gets shut down pronto.

Reccie I worked in and for the NHS and saw some dreadful behaviours as well as some truly heroic acts.
What happened to your father was awful and if you cannot write about your feelings about it here, it would be a travesty.:l
