No, tbh, I've failed so many times at this sobriety lark, I just felt somehow fraudulent offering advice and probably falling into a bottle the next day. I would hope to be more supportive next year generally and in particular to newcomers.

I used to look at people who had even 3 months and just scratch my head with amazement - genuinely. It's imo, what you have going on in your head that makes all the difference. I was always a bit in the camp of 'I have to give this up, cos it's bad for me and my family' --- this time, I've given up nothing - less than nothing, it's irrelevant - and OMG the way our minds change in the course of one short year. If it keeps going like this, have to say I'm looking forward to years 10 and 20

Molls, now i'm in no way giving YOU advice, but listen to yerself wiman "somehow fraudulent?" Hah! Codswallop! (Recs can give you the etymological explanation of that word if you need it). Your posts have supported so many. I know from first hand experience. But I know others must have been supported and inspired also - you post around and your thoughts are so often simply nuggets of gold.

I never thought I'd do it either Ann...don't look at the whole year though, that can be overwhelming. Just know that TODAY you won't drink, you can worry about tomorrow, tomorrow!

I had my fair share of stops and starts too. I'd actually be highly suspicious of anyone that licked this beast on their very first try!
