    2013-LET'S DO THIS!

Happy New Year all! Woke up tired...but only because the knuckleheads in this city kept lighting fireworks off until 3:30 am! Fixed a nice dinner today, watched some of the parade, and have been hanging out with my girls. Back to work tomorrow. This vacation certainly went fast. Always does though, doesn't it?

Hope everyone has a awesome sober night

      2013-LET'S DO THIS!

Hi All - Happy New Year! Had a nice quiet night last night. Movies and sparkling lemonade to close the night out. Slept well for the first time in a long time. My kids got home AOK with no issues. However, I woke up feeling like I had a hangover! What is up with that?! I feel better now - took a long nap and relaxed most of the day. Cooking a lamb curry for dinner. Day 6 is almost done and thankfully had very few cravings today. Fly - I need to find some of that supplement you are talking about, will check at our local co-op tomorrow. Thanks for the tip! Peace and happiness to everyone!
      Make it a great day!

Not to be negative but I wonder about the damage done last night related to alcohol-oh yes the socially acceptable drug.

I am feeling a bit shaky today. Not related to alcohol by this point but nicotine and possibly sleep issues. I went back to ambien lately and it worked a few nights and now oddly keeps me awake. It is hard to focus when you are not well rested so I'm hoping that exercise will help.

I plan to check in daily and I STILL don't have my big calendar. As someone suggested I'm going to Staples tomorrow and I'll bet they have one.

Ann I too wondered how many were out driving drunk last night. Socially acceptable is right, but it's a drug just like crack or heroin. And we're ashamed to say that we quit drinking because it became a problem! Ridiculous. I hope you're feeling better tomorrow. I've been having issues sleeping too. Wondering if it's hormones.

Happy to have so much company on this journey. Managed my smoked salmon and prawns without wine last night, and now looking forward to roast beef without wine!!!!

            Great job SL!

Knuckleheads in my town were setting off fireworks too! I thought it was gunfire at first. I finally put earplugs in and went to sleep.

Hope everyone has a awesome sober night

Way to go to everyone getting through their first day!
Closing in on day 4 and I'm white knuckling it tonight. Day four is usually my hardest anyway but my husband brought home some booze to watch the game. This is after I have asked him not to. Deep breath. I'll be honest, if I didn't have to get up at 3 am tomorrow I would probably be drinking. And that scares me because I felt so strong when I woke up this morning. I'm so ready for the kids to get back in school and my husband goes back to work. I need some alone time!

Well done on Day 1! And good on you for getting outside and walking the dog. That's great to do when you get an urge. And your dog will love you for it! :h

Shelby - glad that you are sticking it out. I wake up with great intentions too. But, sometimes by the end of the day, they just are gone. I am taking antabuse and I'm going to use that to help me.
I know that we can do this. :h

Question for anyone who can help - how do you capture the quotes from other people when you are replying to make them part of your post? I tried using the "quote" tool but it does not seem to work for me for some reason - thanks!

Thanks Nora. I have tried Antabuse in the past. Had some success with it- got my first 28 days last spring.
I've locked myself away in my bedroom with my Kindle for the rest of the night. This is my safe place :-)

I'm in my bedroom with my iPad Shelby . See me? I'm waving! :wavin:

I'm in your boat only 2 states up...started off resolved this morning....would really love To open that bottle of wine a friend brought for Christmas. And i haven't drunk wine in over 2 years. In fact I've been nearly AF - with skips here and there but nothing awful like before..:toasted: - for about 7 months.
Can't claim my total AF brass ring yet but 2013 should send me on my way...if I can get through tonight

Watching a movie hiding while the kids build their gingerbread house. I'd be out there but if I look at one more ugary anything I will crack up.!!

                            Click on the quote button

Then all you have to do is hit return a few times to put some space between the quote and what you are going to type.

I removed the bracket (]) on the last word on [/quote so it wouldnt double quote.

Or you can manipulate the system like this:

Kradle, I don't blame you for hiding from the gingerbread. It is my absolute favourite Christmas cookie... along with shortbreads.

Antabuse: i really should get on it if I can obtain it. Look what happened tonight:

It must be a full moon because i really struggled too. I was still reeling from the treatment my niece dealt me while staying at my place this past week. After she left hubby and I went to celebrate New years at my Hubby's totally French family. I was stuck in a completely French environment (I am struggling with the language) and everyone was drinking my favourite red wine. I refused for about two hours and when dinner was served i agreed to a glass. As soon as I did i regretted it. I wanted to change my mind but didn't want to bring attention to myself as they had been teasing me all night about not drinking. I said nothing; the hostess forgot about her offer, I drank my water and felt relief but also a sense of being helpless to alcohol's pull.
                                Tipplerette

I do this for my children, my grandchildren, my health, my peace of mind, and mostly for the opportunity to learn to live with my true, unfiltered, clear-headed, vulnerable self.
