Got Kicked Out of AA chat room
As many of you know I was sober 20 and a half years. Was a teenage drunk went to AA at age 20. Went to meetings for 13 years was very active Mr AA quit going to meeting. Stayed sober another 7 years total of 20 years plus. Relasped tryed to go back to AA just wasnt the same. That was Oct. 2000 been to 2 outpatient treatments had 30 days AF a few x's 60 acouple of x's 90 3x's 6 months once. Any way I was in a AA chat room last night and told to leave and not to come back. Comfiirming guess AA just isnt what it use to be. Just wanted to get this off my chest, better out than in I hope. Thanks TomTags: None

Does not surprise me. Sadly many of them would be happier abstainers if they fueled their brain with the supplements, etc., from this program but they do not want to hear of it I guess.I'm really easy to get along with once people learn to worship me

That is absolutely disgraceful! My god... I can't believe it. So much for being a "fellowship" or whatever they call themselves. I'm shaking my head in amazement.
It sounds like this is the place for you to be these days Tom (definitely!). And maybe there's something in that for you too... when you went back to AA and it wasn't the same, it sounds like you're ready for a different remedy, now that you're in a different phase of your life.

Tom,
sorry that happened to you. I do know that AA has worked for many folks on the website, and I always support whatever choice people make. However, I am glad you found MWO. Do feel free to try chat ... we won't kick you out. Promise.

Tom, I am truly sorry to here that. No matter what the audience - you should be allowed to express the way that you feel and express alternatives that are out there. After all, we are after the same thing, right?
Made me think back to Samms Way's post yesterday, thinking that he was going to get kicked out of chat for suggesting an alternative to this site. I would have been upset if that would have happened, if nothing else because the MWO family openly embraces anyone trying to beat alcohol's embrace.
Tom, you will always be welcome here.Sobriety Date: June 15, 2007 -- "It's not having what you want, It's wanting what you've got...."

Sorry to hear...
I used to belong to an online group back in 2004. I struggled so badly with them. I relapsed constantly even though I posted there regularly. The drama there was ridiculous. I was afraid to post for fear of it being "taken the wrong way" which it often was & half the time I was defending myself! In the short time I have been here I have been AF more here then in that group for 2 yrs!
Comes to show you that mantras, steps & philosophies only take you so far. We need to "fuel our brains w/supplements" as Lush pointed out & take care of our selves & have a loving, supportive community that we can depend on.:flower: Change a life; make someone feel important. ................. ........................ ..................... ........................ ................. ....... sigpic

Sadly, AA has lost what once made it so special, in that many people there do seem to need to work other people's programs. That is why I was so uncomfortable there and so grateful that I found MWO.
Tom, I am so sorry that you had that experience. I guess if you want to use AA, you'll just have to leave out the MWO part....that's a shame, in my opinion.
I'm glad you're here, though. I hope that MWO helps you to reach your goals!

AA - bad times - but found CAMPRAL
Hey all,
Saw this thread and just wanted to share my experience regarding AA.
Went to a mtg here in Australia and they were all very welcoming and nice but by the third weekly meeting they were getting all cranky that I hadn't been attending the three or four meetings per week which all the established members were doing..
I also got the feeling it was all a bit "cultish" and I just didn't really want to be a part of that. At the 4th and last mtg I attended an established member cut me down because I had said I'm too busy at work to attend more than two meetings per week and she told me in front of everyone that I'll never be able to save myself and I'm a loser basically... Which everyone seemed to agree to..
Anyway after a few more yrs drinking and hitting many rock bottoms I've finally found something that the docs never told me about - CAMPRAL! Its BRILLIANT! if you're committed to abstaining completely.
Please send me a message if you would like to talk anymore about Campral and experiences with it!
Cheers

I detest the cult of AA. This thread comes as no surprise @ all. Proves my theory.
I love the magic of Campral. Well, it is not magic. I still have to make some effort. But it is the closest thing to magic there is.
