Got Kicked Out of AA chat room

I echo what everyone said. I mean, I never went to AA meetings, but frankly, I love the choice MWO gives. I'm still sort of deciding on whether to abstain totally or go for moderation. I used to think abstaining totally was for me. But, with all the supplements and the way it's been working so far, I can easily enjoy a glass of wine, and then just leave it at that. So why push me into total AF? So that's where I'm standing at this stage ...

And that's the beauty of this programme. We already face pressures on so many fronts in our lives. Do we need to be pressured even more by people or groups that should actually help us alleviate from some of this pressure?

What was said earlier on Sammy's post is true. I was in two minds on posting on whether he should just tune down his opinions a bit - particularly when he started going on about the British (I'm not British, by the way). I feel, our boards are here to express ourselves and at the same time respect our opinions.

And Tom respect you'll get here. So welcome again. And whatever your day brings, relapse, joy, you'll always find a hearing ear.

        Tom
I have had probs with AA online/AA - its their way or the highway and if you fail to stop it is your fault for not following the steps and if you do follow the steps and fail to stop then you haven't done them properly.

Anyway it works for some so not going to knock it - Just know its not for me especially when started to drink again - felt too ashamed to go back.

This site has been so supportive to me and open to new ideas, I think Samm had some relevant views, different views , after all we are all fighting the same battle here. I feel he was too defensive though - no-one was getting at him just his heavy handedness.

Don't let it deter you - it can be so demorolising - I like your posts here and certainly get a lot out of you (pardon the expression!)

        Love S

Tom, et al. went to 4 AA meetings now, two in the clinic and two outside in different locations. it's VERY churchlike/cult-like as others have said, and when they began to pass the hat to collect money I almost barfed.....gawd!

            Hi Tom,

Sorry that this time AA obviously isn't the place for you to be right now,- but great to have you with us - stay, keep chatting, share views/ideas/thoughts/successes/defeats etc. and from what I've been reading, the support is unconditional, non-threatening, open-minded, honest and non-judgemental (thanks everyone!:thanks: )

That's why I had a problem with Samms post yesterday - actually decided not to continue with it as, what I read, I felt to be critical and too agressive for my taste. (maybe the Brit reserve?!) However, as people have said, one of the great things about this place is the choices we all have - I get inspiration from different posts, different perspectives, different ideas - many things that either confirm how I feel or alternative suggestions. I love reading through the posts and whilst I don't contribute too much (finding it hard sometimes to find the right words), I'm definitely a regular on the site (work allowing, of course!) That's the other great thing - it's there when you need it ...

Anyway, A long-winded 'welcome' and hope you find as much inspiration here as I do!

Determinator - glad you've found some support through the AA and great to have you back with us - have a fabulous weekend!
