    HELP WITH MOVIE REVIEWS!

Hi Everyone and Very Very Merry Holidays :

I need help figuring out what movies are worth seeing this holiday. The kids are asking everyday to go and though I look at review after review, I can't seem to get a good grip on what's worth my money, my time and my children's psyches :H they are ten and 14...

So as in many things I so love here at MWO, Any and all advice, insight, perspective on the latest round of Hollywood happenings, I am deeply appreciative !! :l

PS: The best I have seen so far is on Netflix and it is called THE SNOWMAN...The girls loved it. I loved it. Glad I didn't see it in the theatre because I laughed and cried like a baby. SO embarrassing

    :thanks:

    HELP WITH MOVIE REVIEWS!

    Hi Kradle!

I used to be a huge Redbox customer. Remember I told you how at the beginning of my sober time my daughter and I would make a bed in the living room, rent movies and order pizza? We did that SO much and it was fun...I miss those days. Now she's on facebook and her iphone all night. Like Hippy, I went to the Redbox the other day and didn't even recognize any movies...boy did I feel out of touch. If you're looking to go to the theatre, I heard that Life of Pi is a great movie, I read the book and it was GREAT. It has that "Avatar" feel to it. Other than that, I couldn't even tell you what's out. LOL

Do you ever watch The Big Bang Theory on TV? My goodness that show is hilarious. You could rent the seasons and have some serious laughs with your girls!

          Oh No! I almost did!!

I actually had the girls singing, ' Look at me. I'm as helpless as a kitten up a tree..'
But that started a whole "can we get a kitten? Dialogue... :H

Maybe New Years day would be a good day to reenter a movie theater. This time I won't have to hide a beer in my cargo pants!
Only one beer? I could fit a whole 6 pack in my red parka coat. I'd wrap them in tissue to stop the clanking. Now...if only I could use my genius for good instead of evil.... LOL

Saw The Hobbit the other night and the cinematography was brilliant - really well done --- but holy gawd - was it long - would be reluctant to risk little ones at it!
If you or your kids haven't seen the latest Batman, I thought it was fantabulous - and I'm NOT a batman fan at all - great movie!
The HOBBIT IS exactly what the girls are clambering for but I fear long long long and terrible dialogue that I would have to sit through...is it too bloody or scary for ten year olds do you think?

I hardly go see movies anymore. Maybe average 5 movies at the theater in the last 10 years.

Shamefully, the last one seen was "Magic Mike" w Channing Tatum...yummy man, funny movie though not great. Dragged to see it by peer pressure...

I was probably sitting right behind you trying not to clink my beer bottles! I always left the dead soldiers behind for the staff to clean up...I hope they were recycled. I eventually switched to cans, for obvious reasons.

                          Thanks everyone!!

We decided on Wreck It Ralph which luckily is playing at our 'old time' theatre which charges only five dollars per person!!

Might take my 14 year old to The Hobbit... Anyone seen Lincoln??

PS: K9/RC - I have been known to take an occasional rum and coke into the occasional movie plex... :l.

Well we saw Wreck It Ralph and it was terrific! very clever and never boring. And though it is animated it's written on adult levels as well.

We saw it in our cute little theatre which while the movie credits were rolling along, all the lights went out and we ended up finding our way out with the help of this little boys pumpkin flashlight from Halloween!! :H
It was hysterical and the kids loved it. They said they liked th etheatre much better than the multi plxes. They even poo pooed the video games which dominate these places lobbies.

Oh and the best part- 4 tix, large popcorn 4 bags of candy: M&M's, gummies, sour balls all for the amazing price of 29.00 dollars. :yay:

I ate WAY to much sugar

Thanks for all the suggestions. Remember the kids have another week off...:H

PS: I think Bad Santa is on Netflix now
