One step: what a lovely story and you have very supportive and loving parents! You sound happy and strong and I'm glad you are doing well.

Welcome Georgina! Congrats on making through Day 1. The shame over having a drink problem keeps us drinking! Can't talk about it you know. If you're addicted to cigarettes and give them up people congratulate you. But if you tell people that you're trying to quit drinking you have something to be ashamed of. Better not to admit it, right? Wrong. You can admit it here and learn strategies to deal with all types of situations. We've all been there. Here's to Day 2! :welcome:

I think it's wonderful that you are implementing a plan as well as telling others. There were plenty of times I said I was done, but really didn't have a plan, didn't know how. There are so many ideas here supported by very good people. Just keep making plans, try something else if that doesn't work, and NEVER GIVE UP. Getting your life back is well worth the battle.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.
