Hello Undies. Mr. G you sound splendid. I need a beach pad soon. I really do. Gosh, I hate being land locked here even though there is so much to love. Anyway, I think I'm going to go to the Aussie day thing here tomorrow. Had to make a reservation for the lunch. It will be lamb (duh) and baramundi (sp?) which I've never had. They'll also have Vegemite, and lots of fruit and veggies.I

I am looking forward to seeing pics from Tawny, Rags, and others flying flags today. I would also :h a grilled peach!

I would normally also love a grilled peach except that Mr B and I have done little else but eat since we left the hotel this morning. :H And the best hot chocolate i have ever had in my life!! There is no excuse for eating anything but really good food in Melbourne! We were planning on heading out for the 100 year old cheese cake this arvo but are meeting up with the bride instead for a celebratory mock tail. We're having a hilarious time with all the wedding stuff being completely OTT (she is having 6 bridesmaids and a full nuptial mass :H) and the hotel we are staying at is teeming with tennis players some of whom have entourages.

For dinner we have fresh figs, fig paste, nice bread, a perfectly ripe but a bit squashed smelly blue cheese, some Tassie Brie and Roma tomatoes. No utensils however so we will have to liberate some from the hotel restaurant!!

Hello Undies, I’m home again.
So, yesty arvo after we had our interview with the local RFS who didn’t bat an eyelid that Mr Rags was wearing a rather colourful skirt we nipped next door to the general store for the Robt. Burns and Aust Day dinner…
Mr Rags had made some haggis Volvo vents and I played my baggies while he paraded them round and served them out.
It was a true blue Aust Day celebration. Yep, that’s a blue singlet and a pair of stubbies the bearded guy is wearing.



I’d forgotten my shoes and stockings so I was wearing my Blunnies. Quite becoming with my little tiara. Mr Rags looked his ever handsome self with his pseudo conical hat. Unfortunately he didn’t have his shuka bag with him..
I think the Teddies were a bit embarrassed....



I'm going to nip to Woolies in a while and see if they have any hats and tiaras left (for next year).


We all had a damned good time… we all sang Advance Aust Fair and only Mr Rags and I giggled when we got to the bit about our home being girt by sea.
One of the girls had copied Dorothy MacKellar’s My Country and we each had to recite a stanza. I was voted best poetry reader. (Probably because I wasn‘t pissed). There were a couple of little kids there who stared in ABSOLUTE amazement when all we adults spontaneously stood up and recited (at different tempos, volume and nuances) the second verse. I should’ve taken a picky of him.

Then this morning on our way home we detoured via Berrima to catch the parade…



No country parade is complete without pipes and drums…

Said to Mr Rags that is what I want to get driven to the crematorium in…. a Rolls Royce hearse. What a beauty. I had previously said I wanted a crap funeral. There’s a funeral director at Kiama called Stan Crapp. I think it would be hilarious for people to say “….Raggsy’s funeral was absolute Crapp…..”



The parade continued… my dad had one of these…



And before the Fairlane we had one of these….




And how clever is that… a porta loo with the catering van. I was chatting with the catering ladies later … told them I’d just had my interview. They asked me if I could butter bread as they need catering staff. I said I was OK at pikelets but not scones… they said that’s the CWA pet, not the RFS…
I had a closer look at the setup as we wandered back to our car.. someone has thought it out very carefully.





Here you go Mr G… a 1.6 litre Ford engine , and I believe the bike is made in Germania. They had to rush to get the website ready for to-day…. Their grand opening was at the parade.

We've organised for our friends to have a ride when they come over from the US. These people also have a lovely if a tad expensive B&B and I've organised my friends to stay there instead of the retreat centre.
We're going to take them to the Friday night dinner at the general store.. should be a hoot. I don't reckon you'd get anything like it in the US. Pity the food is crap. But we all go there for the friendship and fun.

Mr Rags and I looked at the Paul Simon ticket prices. Then started adding parking fees, dinner, getting a taxi to and from the car, and ended up saying too much (bugger I love Paul.)
So we're going to see the Kransky sisters instead.

Well there will be no Aussie day for me today. It is pouring rain here and is quite miserable overall. We haven't had a drop in many weeks but today it decided to dampen things, So, I'll consider my $25 lunch reservation as a donation to the Arboretum. I was very much looking forward to the barramundi hoping they would have grilled peaches and labne balls to accompany the fish. Oh well next year.

Morning all! Hi Mr G and Techie, sorry your lunch is off ...fab photos Rags and TF. Tried to avert my eyes from the desserts but...

Raining non stop - sometimes its so hard you cant hear yourself speak. All the manky plants that died are sitting in a quagmire of mud...cant look.

Off to buy school shoes x 2 locusts while the Lamp paints the toilet. Can hardly move from yoga yesterday, particularly my bum. Which really shouldnt move too much...but

Doesn't the Saab have a you beewwdy sat nav. where you just punch in the destination and sit back and have a snooze till you're there? Hope you have a great evening big fella.
p.s. i'm in the market for a later model car, and am considering a Saab as they're reasonably affordable here. Do they go ok?

Roast sounds yum Mr G. I've got a chook- not one of my girls - soaking in a brine mix - like Heston suggested. So I'm doing a slow roast thing. Perhaps today.

Hi G. Perhaps I should move to Oz. My 9-5 cast me $48,890(US) I have always been very happy with them. Saab did file for bankruptcy early 2012 (like Chapter 11) and were going through reorganization. I'm not sure of their current business state. In fact, I'm looking for a new vehicle myself. I am interested in Jeep Rubicon or Range Rover Sport. Will give Saab to Emma as her Volvo is coming toward lease termination. Let me know what you find Mr G
