One Step at a Time - January 2013

Fallen - my very good friend suffers from Fybromyalgia. My husband also has had some doctors say that is what he has. Then other Doctors say no. I think he does though. Be kind to yourself & your body. Are you taking Lyrica and Cymbalta. The Lyrica definitely helps my husband and his pain. He stopped the Cymbalta. My friend is still taking both of those. She has good days & bad days. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to ask her for you.

One Step at a Time - January 2013

Fallen - Needless to say I haven't been in my backyard...but thankfully it doesn't really need tending to right now since it's frozen to DEATH. On my most successful quit (81 days!) over the summer I was even able to go out and hand water the plants without feeling like I had to have the hose in one hand and a cig in the other! I will get back to that point eventually.

I went to the thrift store at lunch...got a cute pair of calf high boots, a scarf and a cute shelf for the bathroom with hooks. Sierra just said yesterday "Nice robe hanging on a nail"....LOL That's typical me...my house is all put together and then I go and do something dorky like hang a robe on a nail. HEHE

Well my L-Glut did not help my M&M frenzy at work. Going to take it more often tomorrow and try again. I'm going to look into the Flat Belly Diet. I've never heard of it before.
Was feeling down/blah today. Thinking too far into the future, etc. So, I went to The Dollar Tree & bought some more stickers for my calendar. I have hearts, stars & some Mickey Mouse. I should be all set.:H

              Hi Friends,
Nora, sugar is not on my new lifelong-diet. Have you tried Splenda? It tastes and measures like sugar. You can cook with it, it holds up to heat. No yucky aftertaste. My current treat is a coffee with cocoa powder, Splenda and heavy cream. Fats are "in" , sugar and starchy carbs are "out".

Mama, I had hoped you would sing in this musical, not just hold up signs!

So why are you practicing "signing"? Oh, maybe you meant sign language while you sing???

It's only been in the last month that my doctor has taken me seriously & referred me to some specialists. I'm on different medication than what you mentioned, it seems right now they're still trying to figure out what my problem is & what can be done. Right now I'm just trying to get pain-free enough so that I can attempt to do some gentle exercise to get my muscles moving again without the pain. I recently bought a few DVD's on stretching & also a yoga for arthritis. I think learning some form of meditation would help me too.

I love thrift store shopping! I think it's the thrill of the "hunt" that I find so fun. I've got a closet full of designer clothes all for a fraction of what they would cost retail. I'm also always on the look-out for any "treasures" that I can find to revamp for the house.
                            Btw...Is it Day 3 today??

The Flat Belly Diet is based on 400 calorie meals with one serving of MUFA (Mono Unsaturated Fatty Acid... the heart healthy fats found in olive oil, avocados, nuts & dark chocolate). When I read that I could have some of my favorite foods that I could never consider having with other diets (I love avocados & dark (85%) chocolate), I knew this was a diet I could live with! MUFA's can help you lose & prevent visceral fat. Here's a couple of links that explains what they do & how to use them:

Fallen Angel, I use Splenda on the advice of a microbiologist who specializes in digestive disorders, which I have. There is lots of stuff on the internet about many edibles, you have to pick out what is best for you, and what you believe to be true. I spend a lot of time researching gardening information. There is an assumption that natural substances are always safer, less toxic, better in all ways. Nope, not true. Poision ivy, for example. People have killed many plants by spraying them with natural substances that are toxic to the plants. So I'm sorry, you are offering your best information, but hit on a sore point with me.

Why YES, it certainly is Thank you for keeping track of me...boy do I need it! I feel good about my quit this time. I almost caved on day 1 and then pure laziness stopped me. I don't have any cigs and didn't feel like going out... No real cravings so far. I stay away from home at lunch time, but by next week I'll be fine because the routine will be broken! Thanks again for all your help Fallen!!!
