Probably cos, if I'm no mistaken, Eire is part of the British Isles, although it is a totally separate independent country. But better have Molls clarify that.

Eire is the south, Northern Ireland is as it calls itself - the north. NI is part of the UK. However it is not Great Britain... Great Britain is Scotland, England and Wales.

The UK is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Am i right with all that army?

So to be Irish is also to be Eire and is not to be English but is to be British or is it the other way round? Anyway you are all on the other side of the pond where my Ancestors came from anyway. At least that's what Daddy told me? Let's all have a cup of Tea and think about it!

Ehm... actually, I think if you are British you're technically from the mainland of Britain (Scot;Eng;Wales... plus all dem fecking Islands aboot the place like Shetland and Orkney and the Hebrides)... so maybe those from Eire aren't British.
