              Army Thread 6th January

              Morning.

Well, this is the very tail end of the army thread, so prolly no one will read this last post. I'm working my way through yet another bottle of whisky and I'm well gone now and feeling more than a little bit pissed off as well as pissed. In truth, if by any chance anyone is reading, you shouldn't pay too much attention to me, I just need to let off a little bit of steam by myself. I expect I'll delete my post when I wake up.

My mum is 78 years old and she wants a new laptop to replace her ageing PC. I spent a couple of hours tonight doing some initial research into laptops on her behalf and when she came downstairs for an early hours snack a short while ago I attempted to explain to her that she has a choice between familiarising herself with Windows 8 now or maybe trying to do it in around 6 years time when she gets her next laptop and she'll be getting on for 85. (She is in excellent physical health and I fully expect her to make it to her 90's. In fact, I would be prepared to bet on her making it into triple digits.) I suggested to her that she might possibly want to consider the possibility of biting the bullet sooner rather than later on the grounds that she will only find it harder to learn new things as she becomes older. I also made it clear that I was merely providing her with the information and that it was her call. Apparently this makes me a "HORRIBLE" person! I am very hurt, in tears in fact. Talk about shooting the fucking messenger.

I can't wait to return home tomorrow night, but I will try to leave on good terms, if at all possible. I've been here two weeks now. I did need a break from being home alone, but now I need a break from my mum. :upset:
