    Last Day Of Alcohol

Today is the last day of alcohol(hopefully) for me. Tuesday I start my Lorazepam and you can't drink alcohol with it. Could be dangerous. I plan to sit on the couch watching TV and trying not to stress.

If you have Ativan - you won't stress.
You have to be careful ~ not only because it is dangerous to mix but because it is highly addictive. When you take one it feels like you had a few.
    I'm afraid of taking mine.
Regardless. Good luck and good for you.
Sober (although some days suck big time) is better then having sucky days drunk.
All the best! I am going to quit tomorrow too.

:applaud::applaud::applaud: That is a very wise decision! We are here to help you keep that promise to yourself! Make sure to have tools to keep your mind busy. Last Day Of Alcohol

Glad to hear your quitting Tuesday also. Really hope today is my last day forever. The DR. explained that the drug helps you cope with the with the withdrawal because alcohol keeps you up then you crash suddenly where as the drug is a gradual ascent and descent. Not going to anything for a few days to see how it goes. Good luck to you.

Take out the "hopefully" and re - read what you wrote.

You CAN do it and we are all here to support you
If drinking is interfering with your work, you're probably a heavy drinker. If work is interfering with your drinking, you're probably an alcoholic.

I didn't want to appear cocky because I know how had it is to quit. I really intend today to be my last day ever. I doesn't do me any good to drink and the benefits to me of not drinking are more appealing.

Do you have a good doc? Some family and friend support?

Oh yes,My doc is great and wants me to call him everyday or if I have a question. My wife is so happy and she is changing her work schedule to try to get home earlier every day while I'm on the lorazepam. CanDo,

The Lorazepam (sp?), also helps keep you from having seizures from withdrawal.

You are very lucky your doctor is letting you do this at home. Many are afraid that if they give an alcoholic the med (often Librium) but Ativan, etc, also work, the patient will still drink and that, of course, is extremely dangerous.

Make these few early days of sobriety all about you. Take good care of yourself, drink plenty of fluids. Ensure you take good supplements to help and eat well.

                    Pretend you have the flu.

Let us know how you are doing.

Being cocky is not always a bad thing. It has helped me beat down the beast more than once.
