100 Hours With Out A Drink

Walking with baby steps 100 hours with out a drink. Small victory but I'll take it. Woke up really groggy from the bedtime Lorazapam but slept through for the first time in ages except for a pit stop in the middle of the night and went right out again. Still no urges or withdrawal symptoms. I am coming to the realization this life is for me. Good luck to everyone and thanks for your support.

Well done, you sure can do it.

It will get better with time, it's nice that you are taking one hour at a time. Every hour that you stay away from alcohol is a significant victory.

A lot of us are here keeping tabs on your journey.

    Keep going.

Perfect analogy!......you gotta learn to walk before you can run (without AL), keep it up, you are working your way through the hardest part..........it will get easier

I'm a musician and have a gig tonight. A little apprehensive about going to work in case I get an urge. Any advice how to cope with an urge and how long do they last?

Only as long as you allow it to, kick it out of your head as soon as it starts

Have a plan in place. Go with a bottle of Iced Tea or some other NA drink in hand. I would get some Antabuse from your Dr. That will take your choice to drink away. It's a nice safety net to have.

Your not supposed to drink while taking Lorazapam so I have that on my side. I did it for two years( going to gigs and not drinking) and for the life of me can't figure out why I'm worried today. I studied coping with urges and most don't last too long plus I'll be distracted by playing. Even when I was drinking I usually never had a drink on stage with me. Looks un professional. I'm probably worrying about something that won't happen. The fact is I really just don't want to drink. Does nothing for me. I realize that. I was the one that went to my Dr last week and said I want to quit what do I do.
