Don't worry, not insensitive at all. I would be about 15 but that was only high days and holidays
Then I really noticed how hammered she would get was when the son and heir was a baby so about 24 years ago. He was 6 weeks old and she nearly dropped him at a family party. Just as well nobody told me 'til years later or I'd have half killed her.

Wow, that's a longish drinking career, Jackie. In a way, it's a wonder the drink didn't kill her sooner and, even then, it only killed her indirectly, if I've understood correctly.

The daily day drinking didn't start until she retired when she was 60. So she was going hell for leather for about 10 years.

It was something to do with her alcohol consumption, heart and cholesterol. Our Jenny could tell you being a sciency type person.
