Hi again Zen i'm doin ok apart from a slip at xmas and since but i'm getting back on track now. I don't really want to back to AA its not for me but may be 1 to 2 to start off and then see after that. Its getting very stormy here again, yesterday was bad enough. The fire sounds out of control Tipps lucky we don't get thenm on such a scale here. Feel bad for the folks living close and of coarse the wild life. Oh and good to hear the cats are doing well Zen.

:H:H:H (Tell that to yer wan that was busy in the rehab bathroom!!!) :H

Hiya Sweetpea! Nice to meet you too and congrats on the 30 Days! I've just realized I have 30+ days myself... I forgot about it.

Foxy... I'm not sure that AA is totally my cup of tea either but 1-2 meetings a week can't hurt. I've just found out my IOP is being switched to evenings instead of mornings so I may not manage more than one a week. I know it's not for everyone though. We had to attend meetings every night, 7 nights a week, and I found myself zoning out in the end... in one ear and out the other. One a day is too much imho... plus you have to find meetings that are a good "fit".

                    Hiya Starty!!!

My head is de-melting as the day goes on. (This is the first day in over a month that I've had time to myself and it was much needed!) It was a lot to take on board and I'm still digesting parts of it... but it was beneficial overall. You would love the IOP programme... right up your street the syllabus is!

I missed Benjy earlier (hard to imagine how I managed that...)... :H Yoo Hooooo to youuuuu....

I am sensitive you know :H

Why would I like IOP do you think?

Do you feel more hopeful about stuff?

Och surely you're not that sensitive?! :H What's a BJ in the bog amongst friends?!!!

You'd like it 'cos it's about self-improvement... i.e: Distorted thinking patterns, Resentment and anger, Spirituality, Self-esteem, Coping skills, Self-discovery, Empowerment, Grief and loss issues, Relationships/boundaries, Communication/assertiveness, Mood/anxiety disorders..............etc........ It sounds vewwy interestink. Do you have anything like that over there btw?

Yeah, I do feel more hopeful. It's good to be dealing with "issues"... )

                          Army Thread 28th January 2013

Hello Army and a big shout out to Zenners!!

I experienced the same thing in my rehab here in Alabama, Zenny. Mostly young kids hooked on pills. Court mandated, most of them, so they didn't really want to be there.

It was also very AA oriented. Meetings every night, etc, told to do the 90 in 90, etc.

However, it will be a very good idea for you to go to AA, after finding a meeting that you feel comfortable with, because even if you don't think the 12 Steps are a perfect fit, you will still find a lot of information and suggestions in those rooms from people who have a lot of sobriety under their belt.

It is also nice to actually talk to other alkies face-to-face. Somehow that helps.

The non-12 Step program was better for me in many ways, though. First of all, the place I stayed was all women. The men's facility was several miles away and we never interacted. It was a small group, about 28, and we were not treated like inmates at all. Truly as guests. A completely different approach.

Unfortunately, I did not let it "stick" as I wasn't quite ready.

But, none of the times in rehab were useless. I learned much from all three experiences. And I am using that knowledge now as I work on my sobriety.

I am glad you are back and I want you to know we are all pulling for you that you manage to maintain your sobriety. Don't give up, girl. You deserve a very good life and we both know you won't have one if you drink.

                          Love,
                          Cindi

                            Hiya Cindi!!!

I kept thinking about your last rehab and wishing I had gone to one run on that model. I actually agree with the 12 Steps though... there is absolutely nothing about them that isn't helpful to a person. I have never done the Steps but I'm open to it. They told me to do 90 in 90 also... that's overkill for me though.

There were a lot of young heroin addicts that had crossed over from roxys, oxys, percs etc. when they got too difficult to get on script and too expensive to buy on the street. One of the kids had her (perfectly fine) appendix removed so she could get pain pills.

I see you have a date in your signature... :l
