I worked for nuns in a private hospital in Liverpool in the late 60's and young pregnant girls from Ireland were sent there, they had their babies who went for adoption and the mothers went to work in Kelton a laundry:upset: Ye Gods.

Wicked stuff. The nuns would not allow me as a young 17 year old cadet nurse have anything to do with the "sinful" girls. Who were sent to work in that Laundry to atone for their sinful behaviour.
