Ryan Stiles was having sex with his wife.....that was what my dream was last night.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

Hey Dimension- what exactly is lucid dreaming (I hope I won't be embarrassed i asked :blushing:
AND what is a good way to remember your dreams. I usually can't even remember mine.

Hey Dottie- I used to have those dreams about my car being out of control when i was drinking (now, THAT, I remember) and I read that indicates that you feel out of control with your life (which was true in my case!)
            :heartbeat:

I am only one drink away from never being sober again.

              LUCID DREAMS!!

A lucid dream is any dream in which one is aware that one is dreaming. The term was coined by the Dutch psychiatrist and writer Frederik (Willem) van Eeden (1860?1932). In a lucid dream, the dreamer may be able to exert some degree of control over their participation within the dream or be able to manipulate their imaginary experiences in the dream environment. Lucid dreams can be realistic and vivid. It is shown that there are higher amounts of beta-1 frequency band (13?19 Hz) experienced by lucid dreamers, hence there is an increased amount of activity in the parietal lobes making lucid dreaming a conscious process.
Lucid dreaming has been researched scientifically, and its existence is well established.

                Am I dreaming or not?

In 1959, Paul Tholey developed an idea to achieve critical awareness in dreams, writing: ?If one develops a critical frame of mind towards the state of consciousness during the waking state, by asking oneself whether one is dreaming or awake, this attitude will be transferred to the dreaming state. It is then possible through the occurrence of unusual experiences to recognize that one is dreaming.?

Throughout the day when confronted with an odd event, ask yourself, ?Am I dreaming or not?? Then consider, ?How do I know??

Some have suggested putting a red ?C? on your hand with a marker, and then each time you see it, ask yourself, ?Am I dreaming?? You could then do a reality check, like try and levitate. Eventually, this may transfer over to your dream state, and when you wonder ?Am I dreaming?? and do a reality check, you will find yourself levitating, and realize, ?This is a dream!?.

                  Suggestion for Lucid Dreaming!

                  Suggestion for Lucid Dreaming!

Clear your mind. Relax. Repeat to yourself thoughtfully one of the following:

?Tonight in my dreams, I will realize I am dreaming and become consciously aware.?
                  Or
?Tonight in my dreams, when I see something strange, I will realize I am dreaming and become consciously aware.?
Or fill in the blank with a dream sign which is both common and unusual in your dreams (for example, if your Father frequently appears in your dreams):
?Tonight in my dreams, when I see ___________ (my Father), I will realize I am dreaming and become consciously aware.?

I am fascinated by dreams....they are such a good learning tool.

The subconscious cannot be silenced, although it can be ignored.

"The subconscious cannot be silenced" - 100% correct Kuya! So why not use it.. Why not put it to work for our waking days.. Drunks waste so much of their nights (without) dreams.. Now sober is the time to appreciate them, enjoy them and use them in a positive way to better understand ourselves and our Universe.

                        visualized role-playing technique

The following is my interpretation of LaBerge?s visualized role-playing technique:

                        1) Get into the practice of memorizing your last dream in detail, when you spontaneously wake up at night. Simply lie in bed, and recall the last dream in detail.
                        2) Then LaBerge suggests that you take your recalled dream, and clearly imagine that you have become lucid at an appropriate point. Visualize yourself becoming aware in the remembered dream.

                        3) Next, intend to become lucid in the next dream by suggesting, "Next time I?m dreaming, I want to recognize I?m dreaming."
                        4) Do the above until you feel determined. Expect to become lucid and aware in your next dream as you fall back asleep.

LaBerge also recommended that lucid dreamers conduct a "reality check" to verify that they were dreaming. A "reality check" could be something as simple as levitating or flying -- if you can do these actions in the dream state, then obviously it is a dream!

                          Nap to Lucidity Technique

Independently noticed by many lucid dreamers (and confirmed), the Nap to Lucidity Technique significantly increases the probability of a lucid dream.

                          A) Wake about 90 minutes before your normal waking time.

                          B) Spend the next 90 minutes reading or thinking about lucid dreaming, then return to sleep with the intent to become lucid.

Using this technique, the number of lucid dreams skyrocketed in the final sleep period, when compared to baseline records.

DREAM WARRIORS - Tell us about the dreams you had last night!

I have had a couple of lucid dreams - never with any trying though. The first one was right after watching the first 2 seasons of The Walking Dead. The night I watched the season finale, I dreamed I was being chased by zombies. Come to think of it, I had been dreaming of zombies for a few nights.

Anyway, that night I was once again being chased. I was running and all of a sudden decided that I would think about having a weapon and it would come true. I did it and then I had a knife, so I could kill the zombie.

The other one I remember well was when I was shoe shopping. I found a cool pair but I had to leave the store to show my friends. My friends liked them so I walked back to the store. When I looked down at my feet, the shoes were different. I was afraid they would think I switched them, so I closed my eyes, imagined that the right shoes were back on my feet, opened my eyes and they were there.
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

You are everyone in your dream and each person or animal is a part of your personality acting out your concerns.

When you lucid dream you can more rapidly alter the way you deal with your waking life, so it pays to understand the symbolism well.
