One Step at a Time - March 2013

      Hi friends,
I'm just flying by. People coming and going here this weekend. Hubby cooked a turkey today, so we will have plenty of food to feed them. Gotta serve some real food with the blueberry lemon pound cake I made, in addition to the lemon curd with fruit. I think everyone is gonna be on a sugar high without chocolate bunnies.

Nora and Juja, just keep posting, keep gathering ideas and you will find your path to af freedom.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Hi Guys – I’m going to preface this by saying I feel like I’m being really presumptuous in this thread sometimes because I’ve muscled my way in as a newbie and made myself part of the gang when you’ve all known each other for ages. But it’s hard not to because I already feel like I know you and care about you all. Anyway, feel free to tell me to butt out if I’m overstepping the mark!

        But that said……

Juja - no need to apologise, this is a safe place to talk if you need to. Life is really hard sometimes, and some days the best you can do is to get through the day without doing too much harm!

Mama – sorry, but I had to laugh a bit about the sugar thing, only because I’m the world’s messiest cook. Floors, walls, you name it – if it can be spilled, knocked over, sprayed or spread I’ll do it. Seriously, my kitchen usually looks like a crime scene by the time I’m finished cooking a big meal.

K9 – I know how much it hurts to watch your child’s other parent being unkind. I left my husband because he was abusive and I had a horrendous time trying to protect my boys (who were 7 and 4 at the time). After a long court battle we finally managed to stop access visits and they haven’t seen him for about 15 years, but while they did there were so many times when they tried to share things with him and were horribly disappointed (if not a lot worse) . Sierra (I’ve been meaning to say I LOVE that name btw– it’s so pretty!) is so lucky she has you to protect her and her Pop as a father figure as well.

        Happy Easter everyone. :l:l

Glass - Girl we LOVE having you here and I didn't even realize you are a "newbie"...I thought you'd been part of our gang forever...I feel like I "know" you like that! LOL ---so now you're stuck with us and if you disappear, we WILL hunt you down! :l Sierra and I are going to hang out with Pop tonight...we both need a hug! Don't get me wrong, my mom is a wonderful lady...but girls need their daddy!

Mama - Now you KNOW I only eat the butt, its the best part. Plus it's the only booty I get!

Oh, and I am a klutz in the kitchen too, I dropped a whole pan of cornbread once and picked it up and made the kids use a fork. That's how we do it at my house. HA

Glass, You're always welcome here. We're not a clique, and are glad to have you.

K9, I read the Orchardist. It was different, and good. I'm in the middle of The Voyage by Philip Caputo. Oh, I hope your ex gets his just desserts one day. Sierra's lucky to have you and your father. I wish I had a loving father. I can't imagine what that must be like.

Mama, Hubs beer doesn't bother me. I only drink it when I want to continue fueling an already begun blow out. Besides, I'm too embarrassed to talk to him about my drinking anymore. I've tried to quit so many times, that he probably doesn't pay any attention to me. I don't blame him. I won't give up, however.

Nora, I need to read back to see how you're doing. I don't want you to be in pain.

Hi, Sunbeam! Blueberry pound cake. Yum.

Thanks you for being there for me, everyone. You don't know what it means to me. I felt sheepish coming here and asking for love and support. I guess I must feel I don't deserve it when I keep doing the same thing over and over. Lucky for me, you understand.

                      Happy Easter.:h

Just finished "The Chamber", John Grisham and "Idiot America", Charles Pierce.
Next up: "It could Happen H", Bruce Judson and "The Whole Truth", David Baldacci.
