I've got the whole day orff. There's bugger all happening on a Wednesday morning at work at the moment and we're going to a funeral this aftie.

I'm still reading back, can't get me head in gear after nigh on 10 hours sleep. Yep 10 whole hours.

I just had to pop in and share this: I'm attending a business conference in Johannesburg next week. I've just been asked to RSVP for the first night's entertainment. The theme is "Drink Up", featuring a cocktail that was developed by the hotel specifically for the conference.

WTF?????????????? In this day and age? Or am I just oversensitive, being an alkie and all?

Mmmmmm the appraisal, haven't had one for 25 years and then I got a big sympathy vote as I was 8 months pregnant. Do you get to look at it before you have to comment? I know we did in the bank and then discussed it afterwards. I'm getting the feeling of just see how it goes. No need to at all to tell them about your alcohol problem.

Oh Foxy, talking about money problems with an outsider was worse than admitting I was an alcoholic. First time I've seen Mr JC sob and I mean sob when the credit cards went belly up. Is there a Citizens advice type place you can go to for advice. We've got a government service over here that offers advice.

Fascinating about yer young man, Molls. I've got a godson (28) that has had just one glass of champagne and a few beers when he was 18 decided he didn't like it and hasn't touched a drop since.

Have I missed anything?

Hi Army! Crappy nights sleep so I've been lurking about since 4AM until my brain and eyes clear enough to type something coherent

Tip - I'm appalled the conference people endorse that. It seems over the top.

Found me high horse.

There are actually new evidence to show that binge drinking in young people (18-25) is definitely going down. Not keen on percentages but it's being said 10/12% and getting lower each year.. Better education and less money seem to be a major factor.

However in the over 45/65 age group alcohol is becoming a huge problem. The baby boomers generation.

At a conference like this I would think it would be the older age group attending and surely in this day and age alcohol should not be the main reason for the entertainment. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I am not at all surprised at those stats JC, the mental lives people lead these days lead to stress, unhealthy living, drinking and all else...

My body seems to have stabilised a bit recently but 2 week cycles were not uncommon a few months ago. I am convinced they are related to stress....

I never thought in a million years that I would say this but the our government go round patting themselves on their backs about how good they are helping drug addicts and that is getting better. But I'm sure because of the revenue they get from alcohol they are just paying lip service to the alcohol problems. Here comes another Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
