    Army Thread, Sunday 24th March

Going to go back over your posts, Tips and start writing down all the Afrikaan words and translations. Love Bliksem. It shall be used freely.

Got our Jenz coming for dinner, it 21 years since her heart operation. So we'll be celebrating her zip (scar).

Ooh got a message from our Whizzy.......................

'Arrived safe and sound. No snow but bitterly cold so sitting by the fire full blast. Bliss.'
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Ok - so didna do the lazy thing an ask you how many rands to a euro Tipps - got me converter head on :-) So that's about a 10th of what I would earn roughly - so that makes the lamb fairly dear based on wages if it's like with like. Interesting tho!
Now I achully AM scrubbing floors and cleaning out fires so best get nose to grindstone afore I have to head off and do my AA job.
        Laters with a happy face :-)) x
That's pretty much why my SIL and hubs are still in Ireland. The comparative wage here would mean a pretty miserable existence.

God... that curry is smelling divine. Can't wait for it to be ready.

Oops forgot to say marning to Foxyloxy.

Gammon with a chilli/brown sugar/honey crust. Mash taters and cabbage. Lemon cheesecake and an apple pie.

TBH I'd rather have lamb curry.

Oh it's me Boston Red Sox t-shirt and spotty jammy legs, beautifully accompanied with Mr JC's dressing gown. Cup of coffee in one hand, ciggie in the other.

Betya didn't know you were surrounded by such cultured wimmin.

They've just been talking about jellied eels on TV sort of put me off food for a couple hours.

Just put the rice on. Not long now.

They're in Dublin, Molls. Fairly close to the city centre. My SIL works at Black Rock College.

Almost forgot to tell you. Made a batch of cherry tomato jam with cinammon yesterday. Today Mrs. T and I are going to attempt sour fig jam. They're not really figs, though. They grow in the wild, mostly on sand dunes. The fruit has a hard brown husk, which you need to cut off to reveal a red softer (but still chewy) inside. Soak overnight to soften, then boil with sugar and a whole clove.

I also want to make some onion marmalade. Saw a lovely River Cottage recipe the other day.

Molls, don't forget to slam the doors so the window frames rattle.

Oooooooh there's nothing like a bit of food porn on a Sunday:h

                            She simply mentioned hers 1st

Oven switched off and rice taken off the heat. Slow-cooked meat on the bone is the business. Plus the potatoes are fluffy and soft. Plus the gravy is thick and oniony. Better get the plates out.
