The difference in your sober post and your 'relaxed' post was like a switch flipped. And it did. AL took over your thoughts and now has you believing what it wants you to think. Feeding it only keeps it alive. Only by starving this beast will you ever kill it. Your mood changed 180 degrees. I hope you will decide to take your life back. AL sucks in every way. If you look at it, you don't sound very relaxed now, you seem anxious and stressed. So much for getting relaxed. AL isn't fun anymore. It is out to win all the marbles....IT wins every time. Please stop relaxing, and pour out the rest and start reclaiming your life. It is such a waste. Byrdie

HI Inchy :l
Birdie's dead on. Your relaxed post and your sober post are way different which is why your journal is so essential to get out from under.
And ages also right about 'starving the beast'. Which is colorful way of targeting our brain chemistry which alters substantially every time we drink....
Sounds so simply but we all know who hard it can be to get there.
1. Remember to slice up your lemons with your water...
2. Mint tea..come on you're in England !
3. Lay in bed within your sketch pad on your lap and The Young Ones on the TV...reruns anyway...:H
4. Pet the cat :h

Hi Inchy!
I couldn't agree more, your "relaxed" post quickly turned into stress and anxiety. Good old alcohol huh? Is that how you really want to feel? I know you don't...none of us would choose that. But we know how hard it is to change. Hard, but NOT impossible! I heard the Beast talking in your 2nd post, and I don't like the Beast or anything he has to say. Don't let him lead you anymore. You can do this, I KNOW you can!
Love,

No one will rescue us. We must do this ourselves. You have the power within you already. You've just got to find it.
Hang in there and keep posting.

Day 3, pre-quit
Thanks to everybody for the support, the main reason I have chosen to start this journal before I'm sober is to show myself at weaker moments exactly the things I am not missing out on haha.
So plan is to quit thursday still, though this may not work out due to unforeseen circumstances. Main concern for me right now is waking nightmares/ possible sleep paralysis. Not sure if this relates to drinking or anxiety over quitting or something else but am starting to fear sleeping. Will write more later probably

Hi (again) Inchy! lol
I commented on your other thread that I ONLY had sleep paralysis while I was in the throes of drinking. Normally it was during my "day after" nap that I was forced to take due to a raging hangover. Alcohol messes with your mind in every way. I haven't experienced it since I got sober.:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

I can't sleep in the day, I have trouble sleeping at night so combined heavy work schedule + sleep paralysis + the fear of sleep that causes is really starting to wear me down now. So tired so much of the time.I have faced it, a life wasted, and I am never going back there again

I didn't realize HOW tired I was when I was drinking...somehow I just survived each day (barely). That's not living, that's just getting by. There's so much out there for you, and I just know you're gonna make it. Is there a possible glitch in the plan to quit on Thursday?:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

Sorry if you've already answered this, but does your fiance know of your struggle? And so what if you're "sulky"...he loves you right? He'll get over it, and so will you. Maybe the two of you can do something together that doesn't involve alcohol?:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

me n my fiance talk all the time about my situation, he has had issues with alcohol but not been 'addicted' and is now sober apart from smoking pot with friends and drinking with me, he did however introduce me to drinking, smoking and drugs. My mood is not really a consideration of him, more of my desire to enjoy him fully when we get time together (between his uni, my applications and work we see each other less than I'd like).I have faced it, a life wasted, and I am never going back there again
