    Army Thread Monday 25th March

Well, good morning to the Army!
Had great night's sleep inturrupted by a nightmare! Woke me up and I must have been pretty restless, cause it woke the dog up also. I open my eyes and he is standing at the side of the bed watching me!

Still not sure what the nightmare was! Oh well, enjoy the day, Army! and...
    Stay Strong, everyone!

Back from the doctor...laryngitis with a touch of bronchitis...on steriods, so that should fix me up fast. Not very happy polluting my body with that stuff, but at this point I just want td be able to breathe without coughing and have the dang sore throat go away. It's snowing here in Philly - what a mess it was walking through the city to the doctors. At least I didn't have to commute in it! Well, back for a bit of a lie down. Hope everyone has a great day.

            :wavin:

Afrikaans word of the day: gatvol

            Literal translation: arse full

Everyday meaning: being fed up (just a very strong expression of the phrase)

E.g. I'm gatvol of having to work another two whole days before going on holiday.

            Or

I am gatvol of the cubs constantly fighting about meaningless shite.

And so on and so forth.
            I'll do whatever it takes

In your case, you're most likely extremely gatvol of the cold weather.

                Yellow Miracles

                Hi folks :wavin:
Thought I'd share this as a reminder of life's simple things : Tippers not sure you have them at the moment !
How do they KNOW to come out every year despite the cold this year ????

Almost nothing else represents the emergence of spring
as the beloved yellow daffodil happy and bright after a long winter's nap

Some things on this earth look as if they were designed to bring happiness to the hearts of humans. The daffodil, with its bright yellow coloring and green stem, is one such creation. The daffodil makes its appearance in the spring, abundant and inexpensive, bringing gladness as sure as sunshine itself to whoever is lucky enough to receive a single stem, or a bunch, of these delicate yellow miracles. It is as if the sun has shed a layer of skin and fashioned a flower out of it.
Color psychologists suggest that too much yellow can be too stimulating, but in small doses it inspires hope and good cheer. The daffodil is a perfect-sized package of yellow for anyone feeling glum or energetically low. It can spur us to action or simply imbue us with a feeling of optimism as it vibrantly glows in our homes or on our desks at work. The daffodil’s presence is ideal in any region where sunshine is scarce as it seems to carry the sun in the soft flesh of its petals. The bulbs are not expensive, and the flowers give so much that you may decide to plant a few in your yard or in a window box. Then again, you may simply wait until they arrive in neat little bundles in the grocery store or flower shop. They are usually very reasonably priced, so you can afford to spoil yourself, and those you love, with a large bouquet.

A daffodil placed under the windshield wiper of a loved one’s car says, “Be happy! Spring has sprung! I love you!” A collection of stems gathered and placed in a Mason jar can be left on someone’s doorstep to remind them of the simple beauties that abound in this life. Don’t forget to bless yourself with a vase of these bright blossoms on your kitchen table or nightstand. Every time you see them, you will be filled with the happiness and warmth of the sun.

Got lots of recipes for non-white fish, satzy, not many for white, but how about fish stew?

Fish stew with vegetables recipe - All recipes UK

You can make it with whatever veggies you happen to have around, but I always include chopped tomatoes, even though they're not mentioned in the recipe.

You could bake your fish in the oven in foil parcels with seasoning, lemon juice/zest, garlic and parsley.

Or you could make some kind of fish pie with the fish, peas, onions or whatever takes your fancy in a tomato-based sauce with mash on top. Doesn't really need a recipe.

All this food talk making me hungry and I don't even like fish - dinner time soon and I am starving, despite my heroic intake of hobnobs today xD

I, like lpc, am spring cleaning - this may be literal in my case as I tidy my room properly about once a year xD have 3 bin bags of stuff to chuck out and one for the charity shop already. Trying to find a way of sneaking the ridiculous quantity of cans out to the recycling without anybody going 'holy hell what you been doing' xD will not miss that at all. Will be delving under my bed at some point, wish me luck

I have faced it, a life wasted, and I am never going back there again

To ya'll my name is inchy. I am an alcoholic - and priority number one is making it to the end of this day AF. No excuses.
