    The house that G built.

Guitarista;1679195 wrote: 2 weeks of rehab reflections.

2 weeks done, 4 weeks to go and it's a little bit of a challenge, but that's okay. That's part of it, challenging our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Art therapy on friday was interesting, and hard going for some of us. One exercise was to draw our inner and outer self. No further clarification or explanation, no right or wrong or rules, just draw and go for it. The exercise brought up some strong feelings, as instead of talking about how we are feeling, we drew it. Then we took turns talking about our work. Tough going at times.

Everyone's looking better physically, as am i at day 21. There is a more relaxed vibe present in the group as we get to know each other better, but still a noticable rawness. This is tough going for a few folks, but some others are noticeably seeing the light and gaining a real sense of hope. I'm somewhere in between for some reason, but i'm sticking with it.
    Hi, G:

I feel like this focus on sobriety is a challenging thing - especially if we're doing what we're supposed to be doing to STAY sober and to avoid being a dry drunk. That is, looking honestly and earnestly at ourselves, our lives and out behaviors. I can imagine that booze school (love that name) is even more like that than other recovery programs - there is so much focus on it daily for so long. Kind of like boot camp or cleaning your closet - everything gets a lot messier before it gets put back in order.

Thanks for sharing your insights here - love seeing you doing well.

G - all seems to be going well...good for you for sticking with it. It is probably good that it is a bit difficult, it seems than not much worth achieving is easy to succeed at.
You also seem to be posting on MWO more often, so hopefully the community spirit of making this work is helping out as well....
Whatever it is, I do hope it sticks for you - we have been round the block more than a few times....be great if winning was in the cards would it not

Thanks Pav. Yep, some upcoming or past events for folks are discussed in the group, and we've had 2 such events for 2 of the group dissected/workshopped using CBT principles. The 2 folk said it was hard going but worth it. They didn't have to share, but were happy for us all to workshop their particular issue. We all learnt from it. I like the workshop aspect as i can better see the CBT principles put into practice.

The community spirit here and in the booze school group is fantastic SL, and i appreciate you and everyone here stopping in for a yak. The program's not too difficult for me really, but it is challenging for others. We still have 3 weeks to go, so plenty of workshopping and practice/discussion/reflection still to happen. It's a fab program and i'm enjoying it even if it all hasn't quite sunk in yet.

Take it easy y'all, and pull a POETS!

Good saturday morning to all from Oz.

I'm looking forward to a marvellous weekend. Today, after gym and a run, i'll be working on finishing a song for a bloke, then a band rehearsal/social yak with a good bunch sunday. No booze school monday, but resuming tuesday. The program tapers off a little from here with the odd scheduled day off. Blue sky's and windy here, temp prob around 14C.

Take it easy out there and have a safe and happy weekend.

          G.

G, i read this and I thought it said, "Today, after gym and a nun, I'll be working on finishing a song for a bloke".

                  Lol Byrdie,

Well, i haven't done a nun as yet, but i may or may not have gotten close with a couple of 'spiritual remedy' peddaling gals a few years ago when i suggested i repent me sins back at my joint after the gig. Didn't matter much to me what they were selling at the time, but in the clearer light of morning, turns out they were part of some 'rainbow' sort of cult led by a bigger con artist than yours truly. At least they bought a C.D.

                  Take it easy y'all.

Mr. G, you are sounding fantastic. So now you are no longer "doing your best friend" but looking for nuns?

As part of your fan club, I thought I'd check in and say hi. Glad the schools are doing well, and that you've helped the nuns out.

Nice to see you RC! Hope all's well with you. What are you up too?

No time for Nuns or any other sort of shenanigans this week, as i've got a bit of work to do on final assignment and class presentation for friday. Will give a fuller report later. Thanks for dropping by everyone. Have a great week ahead. Take it easy.
