Hi Tawns - I reckon you've sent Techie to bed with a smile and a glimmer of hope now...
Hiya Blondie ... nah, I think I'm safe now he's steppin' out with Voila! Sorry about your backage. Horrible pain.

Raggsy - I confirm the Lurpak Brownies are sensational (sorry Bridge and other dieters). I also confirm that, in my humble opinion, you'd be quite ok to pop your clogs without ever eating grits. Don't even bother trying a single one of the little buggers.

Had a good day untangling the rats nest of computer/printer/stereo/etc/etc/etc cables under my desk; making soup and baking a fabulouso crusty white loaf, of which I'd post a pic, but I read somewhere that posting pics of food is considered most annoying to FaceBook devotees. So I'm just toooo terrrrified to try it here just in case you're one of them.

    Terrified, I tell yas.

MrG - trust you had an excellent rehearsal with the boys.

Why is the Govt giving rebates on sat phones? After a lawnmower, I'd love a generator.
Wonder if you could attach something to the lawnmower so it could charge batteries?

The govt gives a subsidy to people living in remote areas that don't have mobile coverage. This includes people who for 180 days of the year will be travelling/living in remote areas. I filled in forms saying where I plan to travel next year. The inmarsat people send it to some govt clerk who will assess it then voila!

Also AMSA doesn't want people setting off EPIRBS all over the place for non critical events.

If Tawny lived where there was no mobile access she'd get 85% of the cost price refunded, and more than likely cheaper calls.

Mind you, it costs $1.30 a minute to use, and if someone rings me they cop international rates. It will be for emergency use only... Royal Flying Doctor etc.
160 character emails are cheap though both ways. Apparantly I get my own email with the phone.

Also my sympathy. I suffer a lot from back pain.

Did you use the Lurpak brownie baking dish?

What I figured... if they featured in the Beverley Hillbillies, they'd be less than ordinary... :H

I'm going to rearrange my study in the next week or so.Well, turn the desk around 90 degrees, but it's an odd shaped desk, so doesn't sit square.

              .
Found this on google. Just in case any of you wanted to know.
Hominy grits, or just plain grits, are an institution here in the South, though they can be hard to find in northern states. Hominy is made from flint or dent corn, varieties with hard kernels that are dried on the cob then removed and soaked in a solution of baking soda, lime, or wood ash. This process causes the hulls to soften and swell. The kernels are then hulled and degermed using friction, then dried. Grits, coarse whitish grains, are ground from hominy, as is masa harina, the flour used to make corn tortillas.

The word grits comes from the Old English. "grytt", for "bran", but the Old English "greot" also meant something ground.

Mr Rags has nipped down to Woolies. I hope he checks on the Getz on his way down.
