    Just once a week?

    Not the "Good Ole Times"!

Thanks to everyone for your feedback. You all really put it in perspective for me. Tomorrow WAS going to be my "drinking" day, but I have to start battling this alcohol crave! It just isn't worth it! To Brydlady: Wow, I don't even remember writing that. Yes, moderate drinking didn't work for me. And ever since that day it's been an ongoing struggle but I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere. So, I will keep logging in and reading posts - it helped - Thanks!

      Thanks for the wake-up call!

I haven't been on MWO for a very long time. I'm so glad I posted a few days ago because without all of your responses, I would be planning on where to buy my bottles of wine for tonight. You have all put this craving issue in perspective for me. I don't have access to AA meetings and I live in a small town so it's nice to know that I have MWO and people who really understand what's going on!

Great responses, guys and gals. Moderation is keeping the monkey on one's back. Abstinence eventually encourages the little bugger to slink off ... persistent little devil that it is. I've tried moderation a million times and keep going around in circles.

        As I said, well said.

This. Plus add another bottle on to that. Then, I was hungover the next day. I also would have horrible anxiety and guilt for the following 3 days. So, in reality, drinking was taking up 5 days a week- not one. Ain't nobody got time for that!

            Roz-

We DO know what you're going through, we've ALL been there. Some of us (me) started over many, many times...but eventually the quit stuck for good.

I wasted so much time, energy, and money on that vicious beast called Alcohol and it never gave me anything back except 2 DUI's, some jail time, huge fines, mandatory alcohol classes...and lets not forget my cellmate named Diablo. LOL Not a good deal was it?

Whenever I think I'd like to sit back and "enjoy" a "few" drinks, I fast forward to the reality of drinking for me...handcuffs and police cars. NO THANKS!

If there's any unsavory memories you can fast-forward to...I would suggest you try that approach, it kills the urge pretty darn quick!

            Stick close to us ok?

            Love,

Moderation never worked for me. My enough switch was defective from birth.
It's just easier to not have the first drink.

                HAHA-The defective enough switch

I agree- that switch was no good early on, LOL

And K9 I love the Diablo story ! The trick of thinking it through really works for me.
I just progress my thought to the 4th or 5th drink, which would be inevitable, and imagine my slack-jawed stupid drunk face. No thanks

That is just brilliant Roz. I'm still really early in my recovery (day 4 now) but just want to let you know your story has inspired me. Thank you so much.

                        YAY ROZ!

I was thinking about you! Good to hear that you did not drink!

At some point it becomes less of a struggle and more a way of life

This is a wonderful post, some of the best advice that can be given has been given.

The choice is yours to Mod/Abstain, many on here have been successful with whatever path they have chosen. Just seems to me that once people win the battle against AL, there is no real reason to tempt fate again.

                                Good luck with your choice
