    Army Thread Wednesday 1st May

It was my way of dealing with those early evenings when I was bored and could feel the drinking thoughts lurking about. Just very serendipitous that I was chatting about them to the lass next door and she just about ripped them out of me hands.

            Army Thread Wednesday 1st May

Ello army, rite I don't bop in much, read alot but I need a wee bit of support today or maybe just even a bit of a push. It's not fear of drinking that worries me today, I feel better then I have in years but I still have a few screws to turn. I really want to apply for new jobs, but I'm blocked by self doubt, fear of rejection etc in this area, old habits die hard, with this comes the old dog procrastination, the more I do this the worse I feel, but everytime I try to get the ball rolling I want to do it perfectly and feel my head is too cluttered to do it right and put it off. The whole malarky is making me feel alittle uncomfortable, peace of mind is under threat. I know I'd feel great I just did it, it all sounds maybe mad but I'm stuck and frustrated and really want to just do it today, it would be an amazing lift for me. So I just need a little push in the right direction from all you good folks today if you could advise

Hope all is well in all your world too

Thanks Molly, I'm always amazed at how much people give around here.

My comfort zone is starting to feel uncomfortable and I suppose change is the key here, I have to change my attitude and be more kind and easy on myself in these life situations. Let life flow the way it should. Oh and I can have that perfectionist streak, my drinking career buried a few unhelpful ways of thinking that I want to work on, that being one and I never like having fear in the driving seat and it has been here

All that said it's frickin great to be sober and I mean that with a heart and a half

Hello there Sugar, have a coffee while I have a think on.

Don't know if you're working at the moment but have you tried a bit of charity work. They need the same kind of CV/Resume and you could pick and choose the hours.

I'm absolutely hopeless at CVs. as I'm not up to all the new jargon they use.

The job I really, really wanted was to work as a cook at local care/hospice and was gutted when I didn't get it. I thought I had everything they ever needed, but c'est la vie, it wasn't to be.:upset:

But I do know that once I'd fathomed out how to compose a CV I was actually surprised at how much I had done and was capable of. Felt rather good to be honest.

It's the sticking the stamp on the envelope or sending the e-mail that's hard. Sad fact of live we'll get rejected but that's not because we're useless it's because there may just be one other person who could do the job just that little bit better. And sometimes it's a blessing in disguise when we're turned down.

Emphasize your good points. I'll bet you've got hundreds.

                  Army Thread Wednesday 1st May

Hi Sugarbeat. For me to break out of my rut of inactivity and procrastination I need to start with one small step and I have to force myself to take that step. I take small steps that build on each other until I have done what I thought was a huge task. Idk if that helps at all, but it works for me.
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

And I'm crap at CV's too. I hired a professional to re-do mine. $500 USD for a brand new CV, a generic cover letter and an re-done LinkedIn page. All done in less than a week.

                          Lovely day here
Excuse me for interrupting, but what's Bealtaine? I work in a library, too, Molls, and yesterday was extremely loony. (Never mind, I'll look it up.) Doubt it had anything to do with Bealtine , but God help the patrons today. I ain't in the mood to put up with their shite.

Btw, good advice on small steps to get out of our comfort zone. Sugar, that's how I got my job at the library. I wasn't going to apply, I wouldn't get hired, blah, blah, but something moved me to complete the application at 6 a.m., rush it to the library at the last minute, and ta da, hired. I do love my job.

Awful good advice on here. May I join you?
