Army Thread Wednesday 8th May
Inchy,
Two days after my last drink, my husband ended up in the hospital with a very scary prognosis. Then my mom in the hospital. Then my husband again.
Rather than looking at it like WTF?? I tried the AA trick of thinking of gratitude, helping to change my attitude.
I decided I was completely grateful I was sober and could be there for them. In fact, in the case of my hubby's second stint, if I had been drinking that night and passed out around midnight, he may have not made it. Really felt some gratitude after I finally got some sleep. :-)
Give thinking about something, anything, to be grateful for a whirl. It really helps. I now do it every day. Even thinking about the little things. Helps your view point, brings a smile to your face and in general makes the day go better.
Hang in there.

Good one Cinders, even simple stuff like being grateful for having a place to sleep, roof over head that sort of thing can work too.I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.
Drank within safe limits for almost 2 years

Evening Jackie, UK, Cinders, Inchy and all :hallo:
Inchy - Im sorry that your home life is so difficult at the mo, really am. TBH Cant imagine myself dealing with that and trying to get sober also.
Have to agree with the others, in that life with it's ups and downs, will go on around us no matter what and its down to us how we choose to cope.
You are day 4 AF which is amazing Its only natural for your emotions to be all over the shop, just wanna send hugs and strength to ya for the rest of tonight :l
