Has anyone done a liver cleanse?

    Good morning

I bought a book by Andreas Moritz called 'The amazing liver and gallbladder flush' which had very good reviews on Amazon. I am thinking of doing this after the initial 30 day AF period.

Any advice/comments/experiences would be welcome :thanks:

Hi Wine Oh, I am a nutritionist and fitness instructor and you can buys loads of books that offer liver detox or cleanses. My advice if it makes you feel good then go for it. The liver does a great Job detoxing us naturally and of your not drinking alcohol then you have a leg up on a large amount of the population :0)
I drink lots of lemon water and eat lots of water based salads and this makes me feel good.
    Xx

      Hi Wine-no

I have the book and am fascinated with the liver cleanse. Haven't followed Moritz's advice yet as it requires a year's commitment from what I read - haven't been ready for that as yet. Also, the financials have entered the equation with all the colonics.

I have since discovered sensiblehealth.com and bought the herbs. Hope to follow that through when time is right. The herbs begin the detox process so the cleanse isn't quite so harsh and not requiring so many colonics. And hopefully for me, not so much of a timeline commitment. Just being honest with myself and what I feel able to cope with right now.

Very best of luck to you if you follow Moritz's advice and I would be really interested to hear how you go if you do decide to follow his methods. :l

        Hi Mootsbill

I will try the lemon water (do you have this warm?). I love salads and eat a lot of them. Just need to cut out the chocolate now (which I only introduced when I gave up alcohol!). What are your thoughts on low carb diets? Hope you don't mind me going off on a tangent! :l

          Hi FF
Thanks for your message. It's the colonics that put me off a bit too... I will check out sensiblehealth too.
I'll let you know what I decide to do... I quite like the idea of flushing the stones out...

I really like the idea of doing a liver cleanse, too, but I can't do anything that requires fasting for more than a day. I wouldn't make it. All in all I think my system is fairly efficient. I'd like to get out any gunk that's in there, though.

I've been reading the Body Ecology Diet. It talks a lot about getting probiotics naturally to restore the natural good bacteria in your system and getting rid of the bad bacteria and yeast (Candida) that a lot of us probably have due to a high sugar diet of alcohol. It makes sense but they want you to eat a lot of fermented vegetables - cabbage, carrots, daikon radishes, etc. I can't do it. I make and eat Kim Chi, which is the closest I'm going to get. I'll need to get my probiotics from a supplement and just do the food combinations they suggest.
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.
