Scan....are you drinking now? If you are...stop and pour the rest out. If you aren't...then make this your Day 1. It doesn't get any easier tomorrow...trust me on that one. B

Wow...sounds like you have it all figured out!

So now the "easy" part should begin right? TAKE THE PILL! Easy as that!

Oh but here's the kicker, you have to take it again tomorrow, then the day after that, then the day after that (see where this is going?)

If you're serious about not drinking...take the pill and stay on it.

Yes and next time a vacation comes around, know that AL is not the answer and continue to take the pill. AF vacations are a lot more fun then what you had.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

Scan you sound like a nice guy
All I can say is you need to kick into action again before the great eraser called addiction really gets going, at the moment you seem to have a lot going for you job, fiance etc, and if you have any inclination that you have an alcohol problem, you put those good things into jeopardy every time you drink, this is simply the truth, how's about you be really good to yourself and save yourself the pain...

And one more ickle thing, from reading your posts you seem to be putting you a bigger battle for the drink the against, you might wanna take a look at that

I feel that I proved to myself that I am serious about it when I went January-April AF.

And I know that the first pill is hard. The rest are easy. Actually I got a happy feeling every morning when I took the pill for all those weeks. My problem is the first one...

I am a baby and I have no will power, so I pray to God that (s)he will push that first pill down my throat...

Another small question Scan, if you don't mind, did you drink today?

Yeah...let me know how that works out.

By the way, you haven't answered the question that's been asked (many) times...did you drink today, or are you currently drinking?

Well, when I don't take Antabuse, I drink.

So I guess that answers the question

If I could go two days without drinking then I could probably have started on the Antabuse. Hope that happens soon.

This was the craziest thread to read and at times I wondered if Scan wasn't just pulling everyone's legs and trying to stir the pot. Noticed he hasn't posted since 2013. As a newbie to abstinence it was a sad post in many ways how the "stickin thinkin" always seems to develop after a little time of sobriety. You know...the old "I was never THAT bad", I've been abstinent this long, one little drink won't hurt me", blah, blah, blah. The scariest for me (as it's always been my trigger) is vacation and using that for an excuse of "just one". So, I will keep posting here for support. Well, gotta run. Off to my first AA meeting.

Addy, it DID sound crazy, didn't it?! But this is just exactly what happens...we may not post it for everyone to see, but that's how our addicted minds think when we are actively engaged in relapse. This just shows the thought processes and how we rationalize it. It sounds made up but this guy was legit and he did well for quite a while until he went on this vacation. It's scary to think that these things are ok to us....but that is just what we do!! As Robin Williams said, we violate our standards faster than we can lower them.
